If you mean a strict gameplay I think that will be impossible as you do not have the money to get started. At best you are required to forage for resources until you can at least buy a coop.

Yes most definitely, you have to use animals if you try a " Use No Energy game."
If you get income from fishing and mining you could easily hit lvl 10 in farming in the first year. Pat em on the head 5 points a time pick up animal produce 5 points a time.

yeah, as CloudSeeker already said, a strict playthrough is impossible, as you need at least 4800 g, but there are no ways of making money without selling non-animal stuff first and there are also no other means of getting animal-products.

Though if you allow food to contain non-animal products in their recipe, as long as at least one product is from an animal, then that starts to be possible, as you could befriend Gus, Shane and Evelyn for a chance to get a few products gifted randomly to get your money over time.

And if you just want to focus mainly on animals, but don't care that much about it being a true challenge with rules, then allowing to get the 4800 first and then concentrate on animals completely is trivial, as animals are infinite money printing machines by default^^
What exactly does the OP mean by "Animal Only Gameplay"? No crops, only animals on your farm? If that then fish, mine, cut down trees and forage for the seed money.

Fish are 'animals' i.e. fishing at least to a fish pond should count.

As far as a strict ONLY animal products sold. . .you need enough money for the first coop at least. Unless you allow yourself some forageables or something you won't reach that. But if you mean no CROPS? Sure. Heck, you can do no Crops No Mining and buy your ore from clint for the few you'd need. . .it just takes longer. I've done a no Crop run before.

The real challenge for me is No fishing >.> Fishing is usually level 8-9 by the end of Spring for me.

I think it's not impossible, but it would take some time.

You get money sometimes in the mail from your Dad or from Mayor Lewis or Pierre if you are friends with them. Also you could do game quests, or fulfill jobs from the jobs boards to earn money. These are ways to get money without selling anything. This would eventually get you enough cash to buy your first coop and chicken.

'sold' so you can go and forage stuff, you just can't sell it. so you can collect the materials to make a fishing pond.

you'd have to....get money somehow, if requests on the wall are allowed. or if you can fish and sell fish since fish are animals that would work too.

I don't know the criteria for this run to decide whether or not its possible. but if you just want to fill your farm with fish ponds and use their item generation to accomplish...something by my guest.

whats the end goal? joja? cuz you won't be able to do the community center without some farming. (unless you can use the traveling cart) give us your 'animal only' rules

if you are allowing fishing, then we could just fish, and sell the fish and make fish ponds. rocks might be an issue. which we could either buy with sold fish, or if we are allowed to clear off the farm rocks there are probably enough there to make a few ponds. we could fish some coops and barns.

people farm simply because its the easiest way. the other ways of making money, work, but just take more effort or time.
