Sweet Gem Berry sells for 1500 instead of 3000g
I'm still pretty new to the game and still trying to figure things out so i use the stardew wiki very often. On there it says that normal quality sweet gem berries sell for 3000g but when i try to sell them in my game they only go for 1500g. I'm not sure if i misunderstood or i still need to do something in order to make more profit. Im currently in winter 2 and i dont want to be missing out on half the profit from the berries :(

edit: didnt reduce profit margin on accident on my literal first playthrough lmao
i realised i dowloaded the balanced valley mod, which apparently reduces profits, and quickly uninstalled it. Sweet gem berry prices are still at 1500g so i've just chosen to accept it at this point

are prices of other things correct on the wiki? if everything is 50% you might have forgotten you turned a profit margin handicap on.

using any mods that take seed price into account or some such perhaps?

Still 3k here. As EleventhStar mentioned, did you turn on a price handicap before you started playing?

it seems very unlikely he would have installed a difficulty mod as a newer player.

I suppose he could have taken advanced start options and got a reduced profit margin, but seems like he would have noticed that earlier.

Why would OP need a difficulty mod? It's a default game option when starting a new farm.

I'm not sure you know what the word default means

lol, yeah, okay, chief. Here, have a head pat for thinking you got one over on someone on the internet.

Default in this case means un-modded. Not sure you understand that words can have multiple meanings.

Yep. Also, just because I'm feeling extra amused at red255 being horribly wrong about everything, a screencap from the default game, no mods running:

The 'default' pricing option in the 'default' version of the game that lets you reduce the price things sell for.

Care to comment, red255?

You must have (and maybe unintentionally) changed the profit margin before starting the game. There is a way to change it but it will require some save file editing.

Make sure to back up your save folder before doing this, just in case.

First you should locate your save folder ("%AppData%/StardewValley/Saves" assuming you are on PC) and once you are inside that folder, open the subfolder that has the name of your farm (followed by a bunch of numbers). The next file you will need to open and also edit is the file that again has the name of your farm (followed by a bunch of numbers). There are two of these, one that ends with "_old" which you can ignore.

Open the file with notepad, search for "DifficultyModifier" (this can easily be done by pressing ctrl+f). You should see the following: "<difficultyModifier>#</difficultyModifier>"

You won't see a "#" by the way, instead you will see a number which I guess in your case might be "0.5"? If it is, change everything in between those strings to just "1" (without quotation marks). Save and close.

If done correctly, the profit margin should be normal now. :brownchicken:

how did you manage to set the profit margin to anything but the default accidentally?

I've already commented, no it does not.

Unmodded, would be base game, vanilla, etc. Default does not mean that.

Default means you just click start. you are still wrong.
