The last time I played the game, back in late-2017, I decided to start my second playthrough and use a custom farm layout. The game ended up updating near the end of that playthrough and broke the mod (which never got updated), leaving that save partially unplayable. And I was right at the end of the game, about to finish the last couple of bundles and finally complete the Community Center for the first time.
I am now in the middle of my third playthrough of Stardew Valley, currently in mid-Autumn of Year 1, and I'm running a lightly modded game with a new farm layout, the Longevity mod, and some other stuff. If the game held off on updating for a while, so I don't run into that exact same scenario again, I'd be kind of happy about that.
Is pretty bug-free too.
The only thing that will be interesting is what the modding community will make with the 1.6 update, since it's focused on moddablity and what it entails for old old mods that no one will make an unofficial update for.
^ this.
Those are my pipe dream hopes. My realistic hopes would be expanded crossplay options with consoles, or at least the ability to import a save from any platform to another. That would be really nice. Better mod integration is exciting though, and if that's all it really entails I'd be fine with it.
OH! And a few more achievements to round out completionist stuff, like having every kind of chicken color, slime color, etc. That may have given too much away when the game was new, but now it would give us an excuse to go back and play a little more.
