how the farm computer works?

hi everyone.
The computer can show you, how many machines are ready. does he shos you only machines on your farm or also around the map?
because my computer always shows me that one machine is ready but i cant find it.

I don't think anything outside of the farm is counted, but I'm not certain. I checked on one of my own saves and can confirm that machines outside of the farm are not counted.

Auto-Grabbers with items in them are counted despite not really functioning like other machines. That's often the culprit in this situation.

The computer checks all artisan and processing machines, as well as crab pots and coffee machine, and crystalariums. and tappers.
Auto-grabbers are not listed as a machine, but are a storage devise.
Don't for get to check your worm bin and trash recyclers.

could be you have a tapper you are forgetting about. I spent weeks trying to locate a chest that was in my chests anywhere list, and could not find it ---- turned out it was the saddle bags on my horse that was listed as a chest.

That's incorrect. As much as they differ from other "machines", Auto-Grabbers are counted as ready machines when they have items in them.

DIRECTLY FROM WIKI:

The Auto-Grabber acts like a chest, holding up to 36 harvested items (or stacks of harvested items). Items can be viewed or removed by right-clicking on the Auto-Grabber.

AND yest there is an equipment list , listing all machines on the wiki page for the farm computer.
the auto-grabber is a tool, not a machine.

That quote doesn't imply that it doesn't count as a machine. It just describes how the Auto-Grabber works.

The only list of items on the Farm Computer page is the navigation table for "equipment" at the bottom of the page, which is there because the Farm Computer is considered equipment. It's below the History section and not actually part of the information for the item; it's just there for convenient site navigation.

And the terms "tool" and "machine" are not mutually exclusive. The word machine isn't even used to categorize items on the wiki. Most items which are counted as machines by the Farm Computer are categorized as equipment, but many items classified as equipment are not counted as machines. The terms are unrelated.

In any case, it's very easy to verify in-game that Auto-Grabbers are counted as machines by the Farm Computer.

I mean, what else would an auto-grabber be if not a machine? The name auto-grabber suggests that it grabs and collect on its own. I am just a bit spooked about HOW it does it o.o I am guessing it is sucking up the eggs and feathers, but how exactly does it get milk and wool? Like, the cow just pass by it and "woosh"! One bottle of milk coming up... @.@

lol. yup. having really milked cows, I know it looks nothing like a milking machine.

And it gets even weirder if you are using certain mods, like medieval craftables for example. The auto-grabber is basically a cute little round table with that mod. I guess it grows arms and legs when no one is watching.

The computer was a bit of a let down, id liked it to at least tell you if anything was ready in the cellar then to keep having to check manually
