Suggestions
Hi Stardew Valley Community,

I know there was a recent patch however I just wanted to suggest possible features to the game. I'm not sure if you need any, just wanted to share these three ideas that's all.

1. Pet update: If you have a pet and take care of it well enough it can come with you on your travels and help you depending on what pet you have.
Examples:
Cat: when you right click a tree the cat runs up it and looks for a tree-seed, increasing the change of one dropping.
Dog: If an enemy tries to attack you it lunges at them.
Additional ideas:
A store at the far right of town with pet supplies and the option to purchase a pet.
A skill level "animal handling" could influence taking care of your livestock and pet.
Pets can be outfitted with a cute widdle backpack that expands your inventory.
Make more pets available, but limit how many you can have by having to purchase a new small building from Robin.

2. Cooking update: Have cooking be a more active task then a simple crafting recipe. I was thinking it could have its own mini-game of putting the right ingredients together. Perhaps even that you can buy simple ingredients from Pierre's that you can turn into food costing energy.
Additional ideas:
"upgrade" the board outside Pierre's shop that allows towns-folk to place daily orders with some possible special requests that changes the ingredients. You can then deliver it to the Saloon near the end of the day. (maybe gain +10% gold if the food was made the same day)
Either work at the saloon where you can do cooking or have an purchaseable building from Robin "a tavern". You can open it and customers come in between a certain timeframe. They sit at a table, look at options, say they want to order with a flag/speech bubble, you walk to the table and take the order then go cook it. Their happiness influences the tip they give. Food variety, speed and food quality influence their happiness. Maybe if you have a partner and they live with you they could take the orders, making the orders appear closer to you.
All in all there are a lot of ways you can expand the cooking system which might be a fun addition to Stardew Valley.

3. Mailbox
I want this feature in the game so badly if someone has a request for an item please give me a place I can drop it off at their home instead of having to run around looking for them like a crazy person. Sometimes you need to get the item and then try to hand it in, but the character has already gone in their room. Perhaps it's not the biggest deal, but it always bugged me I can't drop something off.

I don't expect any of the above being added, I just felt like sharing these things. Also I haven't seen many of the new features so if something from the list above is already in the game and I just haven't seen it yet, sorry for bringing it up.

gl hf, imma play some more Stardew. ^^

Have you tried contacting Concerned Ape on his twitter feed or asked any of the nexus Modders?

I really like your mailbox idea for Stardew Valley/ Stardew Valley Expanded - Tbh i'd probably go further and suggest the creation of a lockup/storage or mail depot, relatively central to each town/village that way you can either drop off the item in the NPC's locker/lockup for them to collect or if they live outside of pelican town you can "post/mail" it to them and vice versa. It would also open up new events/quests - like "find the thief/prove an NPC is innocent", "uncovering the conspiracy/The Truth hurts but will set you free" or "Secret Santa Scramble".

Your Pet idea is interesting as well. Although personally I'd like to see animals other than cats or dogs available (there are pokemon mods out there, which make cats into eevee/umbreon or cows into Rhydon etc. but that isn't what i'm getting at) like birds - Emily looks after a parrot already and there is the aquarium mod, but what about a "Falconer/Aviary" addition?

You could protect endangered species "Hawks, Eagles, Owls" and so on, while having them protect the crops on your farm from crows and the like. It would save space taken up by scarecrows/rarecrows. This in turn could give new NPCs or new options for old NPCs to open a vets practice (who knows maybe Harvey & Maru could expand their medical practice to incorporate this or new NPCs would open an animal shelter/vets practice?)

The events/quests for this could include: "PERTTA - (People's Economy/Exploitation of Rare, Tasty & Trade-worthy Animals) Must be stopped", "World Wide Web - Spiders are awesome", "How to train your pet - mini game to train a guide dog for a blind NPC, to train your bird of prey to protect your crops/search for NPCs lost in the wild/search for rare items from the sky." or "Animal rights - Find a solution to the conflict dividing the townsfolk - a mini game/quest where you must help end the riots/dangerous actions from animal rights protesters while preventing Joja, PERTTA & Don Malone from exploiting animals for personal gain. You'd also have to play peace maker between NPC's old & new who have fallen out over their beliefs - Is it right to own a pet? Free-range vs. Battery farming etc."

Finally, your cooking idea is fine as it is imo, so I'm all for it.

I wan't the diner thing so much. I think cooking is underused.

There's so much recipe but once we've got the cook-all-achievement there's really no reason to cook except for the occasional food buff. And also, I don't know about ya'll but I have so much ingredients in my chest it would be nice to have other option rather than just selling it outright.

---
Some ideas:

- There's dish popularity, which will up your diner's popularity too which will increase a number of npcs coming in
- We could play with the menu planning, dishes with seasonal ingredients will gives more tips and up popularity. Having 2 (I guess?) same dish in the menu 2 consecutive opens will decrease popularity and so on.
- There's other npcs only for diner, Passerby? maybe. So the location near the bus or town probably make sense.
- Quality ingredients matter. Which we could use for special npc like gourmet or (diner dash inspired) food critics, which will up popularities next time you open if they served right.
- The cooking probably doesn't change, but npcs's order showed up as a speech bubble with picture, typical restaurant game
- Also the option to hold up (or npc holding up) night out or birthday party at your diner which will be nothing but a cutscene, but still.
---

We would have more reason to plant other stuff than the go-to-seasonal money crops and brewing other beverages other than coffee,

And if diner is too much assets to make, making it uninteractive like Gus's resort stand could probably work too for some mechanics. It would be less exciting i guess.
