You "faint" in the cave because you've been beaten by monsters. The villager who finds you is saving you. You CANNOT stop them from saving you.
However, what you CAN do is quit to the title screen (without saving) and reload the day. If you do that, then you haven't lost anything, your items will still be there, and your levels learned in the mines will still be there (by that I mean the ones that were there at the beginning of the day, not things collected DURING the day). If you sleep, then your progress is saved, and whatever you lost (when you "fainted" in the mine) is gone forever.
(Some stuff can be easily replaced though, and mine levels can be relearned).
You will have to redo the day though.
As far as I know, that's the only way.
Apparently you can go to the Adventurer's Guild and they have a recovery service.
For that you have to be a member, though, you'll need to kill 10 slimes for that.
Then you can go there and pay some money - the sell price of what you want back - for them to get it back, only one item or stack of items at a time, so choose the most important stuff first. You'll have the items in your mailbox the next morning.
It's not worth it for random mats, of course, but if it's something rare or something you need for a quest the next day, it really helps.
I mean, I get you want to have everything your way, but this isnt a McDonalds, or a Wendy's. When you die, you either bite the bullet and take the loss, or restart the day and bite the bullet that way. Death = Penalty. :P
Lawyer: Mr. Sansweet didn't asked to be saved. Mr. Sansweet didn't want to be saved. And the injuries received from Mr. Incredible's "actions", so-called, causes him daily pain.
Mr. Incredible: Hey, I saved your life!
Sansweet: You didn't save my life! You ruined my death!
Huh, must be a new thing, well ... I stand corrected then.
Dying in the mines brings a harsh penalty sometimes, always try to survive at all cost. No loot is important enough to die for in the mines. No matter how badly you want it. Always keep an escape route open. Try not to get swarmed, always look at your hp when you see more than one enemy coming at you and consider if you want to take that fight. If you do get swarmed, consider retreating where the terrain is in your advantage and then fight. Especially flying enemies can be really annoying/frustrating to deal with if there's more than one of them.
If you really lose a lot of valuable stuff you could also savescum by exiting the game without saving. However, if its not something super rare or valuable I wouldnt do it. Savescum only makes you feel bad. Instead, try to suck it up and accept the loss and move forward with the knowledge that you should be a bit more carefull next time. Many things in this game are easy enough to acquire from a casual mining run. See it as a challenge, the mines are high risk high reward game mode. Sometimes you lose and the risk part comes into play, if you reload and basically remove the risk part then where's the challenge anyway? One of the few things that can be considered "not casual" is the mines part. Then you'll get burned out sooner if there's nothing challenging left anymore imo.
