why can't i just give robin my wood?

for her quest on the new community board she requires 80 hardwood for a project.

i took the quest since i had more than enough of the stuff in one of my chests. but sadly just placing it in her home didnt complete the quest, since i also had to gather those 80 hardwood over the course of 7 days.

im just confused why she requires to gather the stuff if she just wants to make a new bed out of it, and why i cant just give it to her from my pile.

A lot of the special orders require you to actually obtain the items, during the quest.

Considering most player hoard items, they had to do it that way to keep players from just instantly clearing these challenges.

(Maybe Robin needs the wood to still be fresh, not dried/cured?)

hmm. i guess i see the argument.

though still it feels a bit frustrating. i already gathered all that hardwood and held onto it for so long. since she needs so much of it on such a short notice, it would be nice if i could just give it to her.

It shouldn't really be much of challenge, especially if you are prepared for it.

12/15 (perk) Hardwood from Secret Woods - those alone would easily cover the amount needed during the 7 days.
And you most likely obtain at least 1 Mahogany Seed each trip, and cutting those down gives base of 10 Hardwood / tree.

Admittedly, if you've unlocked the Island, it becomes almost trivial to beat the challenge, as lots of mahogany trees grow there.

(Or if you see the Deepwoods mod, then you'll be able to find tons of hardwood without much issue)
