Best Fish Ponds?

Howdy, pokes.

I'm doing a new Riverland playthrough so am going heavy on the fishing (I usually do anyways) and one thing I never did on my first game was using fish ponds. I know different fish can give you different items, but some of them have pretty low chances, so which ones do you guys think are the most worthwhile?

Sturgeon seem obvious since caviar sells for a decent bit, but what about some of the rarer fish? Is the Rainbow Trout worth it for the incredibly small chance of the Prismatic Shard or would fish with more reliable profits be best? Any fish you guys like that produce other particular items? Let me know below.

Yeah it is Blobfish all the way once you get those. They reproduce rather slowly but they are worth mega monies.

For forest farm I like to have a Woodskip pond for the theme. Pointless, but thematic.

I just wanted to update here incase anyone is starting new ponds. My original choices ended up not being great. Although I also got an early prismatic shard randomly from a rock after finishing the rainbow trout pond... odd. Anyhow,

The surprise winners here were Blobfish, which due to its high amount of x2 roe and nothing else, out performed Lava eel by a good amount. Also, having the "Warp Totem: Farm" stacking up in early game turned out to be very helpful while i was trying for the golden clock and did not buy Krobus' staff.

Also, Stingrays! The only pond that still benefits me outside of money. I did not think much about the free cinder shards at first. Now that I enjoy using the forge those cinder shards are hard to come by, and a decent drop rate from the pond.

Thank you for the explanation of why blobfish would outperform lava eel. I missed any indication of that in the wiki.

I still think super cucumbers and maybe crabs are good to grow, just for the fish themselves since I like to make cooked dishes with them.

you can't really get blobfish except during the winter festival though. Interesting. might be easier than lava eel, would recommend sturgeon in the meantime. since those are a bit easier to get over lava eel and won't leave you penniless until winter with your farms doing nothing.

I know I tried lava eel and the money was decent but the eels themselves were a pain to catch.

if Blobfish are better money....thats interesting.
