This is the HARDEST achievement for me. (for real)
My game time counts up to three digits.
I've beaten TWO full completion runs.

But this one achievement, I still couldn't get.
It's just one thing I cannot get.

Guh, I have the money, I have ALL the resources.
But I cannot get that pesky little <Joja membership>.

Everytime I see that 99% achievement progress, I let out a sigh.

'...But what about the heart of the community?'

I just wanted to express my feelings for once.
Can someone pat me on the back please?

"boot up SAM"?? not sure what you mean.
If you don't know what SAM is, it stands for Steam Achievement Manager and it is a third party tool used to either unlock or reset steam achievements. It has never to my knowledge been forbidden since there is nothing but a sense of personal accomplishment to gain from achievements. It is also commonly used to unlock broken achievements.
ok, not something I would bother with then. thanks for the clarification

Steam Achievement Manager is pretty much taboo among a good portion of the achievement hunting communities. It's a third-party program that allows you to manipulate the Steam files to trigger achievements when the conditions to meet them haven't been met.

Yes, sometimes a game will be bugged so that the achievement simply will not pop, even when everything has been done properly. A good portion of us (including me) simply sigh sadly, shrug it off, and move on to another game. But we also know what to watch for when we suspect that someone might be using SAM to "cheat" the achievements. (Like, for instance, someone unlocks one of those achievements when it's well-known to be broken.)

For some players, using in-game cheats and exploits aren't allowed. For others, the use of mods isn't allowed. It's a personal choice, really. But pretty much every achievement hunter draws the line at SAM.
Achievement hunting communities? Can you tell me what are some of these communities? I'm not allowed to do my usual Let's Plays here anymore, and would like to find new places where I could engage with folks about challenges.

Just to clarify, when I said it is not forbidden (to my knowledge at least) I meant that Steam doesn't really care if someone uses it or not. What you mention here is basically unwritten rules by achievement hunters. At the end of the day, it boils down to a sense of personal accomplishment which can never be fulfilled or satisfied if you have taken certain shortcuts to make it look like you did something that you really didn't.

For that reason, I have always been under the impression that most achievement hunters doesn't really care. I can understand it from a group perspective. If you enter as an achievement hunter and one of the rules clearly states that SAM isn't allowed under any circumstances then of course, that will have to be respected. But I think honestly that most of us who do like hunting achievements keep to our own business.

with over 4850 hours in game I have NEVER done the Joja route!! Have not been convinced even to try, dont like that guy.
I have played the game many times , and have 3 new save files now , so I could do the Joja route on one of them, but I need to be convinced that it is worth the time.

I became friends with Pierre and now he promotes my produce to the town.*

Joja lets their employees rot down to the bones in their cubicles.

Especially when you remember you left a Salary-wage Desk job IN Joja for a Farm in Pelican Town.....

Also this. Came to Pelican Town to ditch Joja. Let them stay ditched, I say.

* I only recently learned of this. Prior to this I never had an issue with Pierre claiming credit for my stuff because dropping things off in the bin was faster than going to his store. Now I go out of my way to sell silver or better quality stuff to Pierre because I like the idea of sharing that stuff with the townsfolk.

I did a joja run once,

I plan to do a fish pond only joja run and buy perfection, simply because my character feels like he should stick with what he knows rather than drinking random chemicals from a hippie in the woods.

Absolutely valid! But just so we're clear... you know that you can still do the Junimo/Wizard cut scene and still go Joja, right? And if so, then you still get access to building a Junimo hut on your farm later in the game.

But again, totally valid if you don't want to go that way.

what need would I have for jumino huts for my fish ponds? do jumino huts interact with fish ponds and crab pots?

No, but another person reading might care about knowing it's an option.

Sure thing! Here's the one I belong to.

Although it has a lot of members, it tends to be pretty quiet. Most of the posts are from those looking for a partner or two (or five) for some of those pesky multiplayer achievements.

I can't tell what games we have in common (aside from Stardew, of course :rose:) but if you need help with a cheevo and I have the game - or you just want to chat about games, kids, or the Pacific Northwest - feel free to send me a friend request.

Yeah, Steam doesn't really care. And it's more of an "honor system" among achievement hunters. The only people I've seen raise a stink about SAM users are those that are weirdly competitive about getting achievements. I don't see how someone cheating can affect someone else's personal goals, but people are funny that way....

Indeed and speaking of. I remember a complaint about Fizz, the guy who sells waivers in the game. It was apparently a problem because now people could "cheat" their way towards perfection and that wasn't fair towards us who had done it the "correct" way before Fizz was implemented. I was like; Seriously? :steamfacepalm:

I remember that. I found the argument to be quite silly, especially given that Perfection wasn't even an achievement until the 1.6 update, and Fizz was added to the game shortly afterward!

I'm still trying to get the "Perfection" achievement myself. That and the raccoon family are the only ones I have left! :fhappy:
Joy to the world beats a lousy game achievement.
