so i'm in the skull caverns how many levels do i need to go down for mr. Qi quest

You cannot complete this quest until you receive this note.

If you can't find secret notes, wait until Winter Year 1. If you walk past the bus stop, a shadow figure will run off and hide inside the bush to the left of the Community Centre. Find him, and he'll give you the magnifying glass which will allow you to find secret notes.

just so you know there is no real bottom to Skull cavern that anyone has ever said they reached! I have been down to level 1700, sure took a long time and can only be done using the elevator mod and a tractor. I have read that the bottom is around level 17,000 or something like that.

This is not about the bottom, but about the Qi-Quests, which in fact are at fixed places. Floor 25 for the first quest and Floor 100 for the quest for the secret note.

Also the truly deepest floor ist 2.147.483.527 (The integer limit of 2.147.483.647 minus 120 which are the first mine). Also the Quarry mine is coded as 77.377, which is floor 77.257 of the skull caverns and which needs to be skipped with a hole, since you won't be able to find a ladder on that specific floor.

And if mods aren't used, then the deepest anyone has managed to reach is 11.187, which is impressive on it's own, given that is was 5,5 hours of just using ladders and constantly oppening the menu to stop time^^

There's nothing special on around 17.000

how/why would anyone even want to spent all the time doing just that, and thats a lot of ladders! Yes I went down to level 1700, but I did it in several trips there, using the elevator to carry one from where I left off. I dont think I ever did much more then 100 floors in a single day, but I didnt use any ladders, but cleared each floor with the tractor. Sure did get a lot of Iridium ore down there.

Some people just love the attention and chasing world records. Reminds me that i should try to retake the Harvest Moon Light of Hope world record again^^
