Ancient seeds.
So how should I be going about these. Say I have 20 that I harvest. I can’t then profit off them because I need to create new seeds off them so not sure what I’m missing here.

Yes, however, one fruit gives multiple seeds so the growth is more exponential than you think. On my current save I had a full greenhouse by the end of year 1 and I now have 576 planted in spring 22. if you wait the profit will be huge. Have other crops in the meantime. I planted as many ancient seeds as I could on spring 1 and filled the rest with coffee bean and a few of the other crops. Every monday I harvest af and destroy coffee to plant ancient seeds. So im doing fine now but by winter ill have all the money I need. From monday the 28th and on ill be planting ancient fruit on the island farm and in spring tear three i can have enough ancient fruit to fill the whole main farm, I also purchase deluxe speed gro or make some to move the harvest a week earlier.

Yeah if you want to make lots of money from ancient fruit then you will also have to invest some time and patience. It's something that becomes very profitable in time when you have gathered a decent amount of seeds and by that also plants. I rarely put any of them on my main farm though since they die off in winter. It's better I think to have them in the greenhouse and also on Ginger Island when you have access to that. I have read that you play with the Expanded and also Ridgeside Village mod. You will find some very neat extra places to grow them in all year round :> Grandpas Shed being one example. Turning ancient fruits into wine will also make you even more money and especially if you store it in casks and wait for it to reach iridium quality. :brownchicken:

If I start with just one seed, the first thing I would do is plant it at the start of Spring, then wait for it to produce some fruit which they will once Summer arrives providing it's been watered every day. Harvest the fruit and craft a seed maker to turn that fruit into seeds. By the time Winter comes, you'll have even more seeds for next year and you'll be able to make even more seeds at once, speeding up growth.

Once I have enough seeds to cover the entire farm or whatever, that's when I start profiting from them! Only the first lot of fruit would I turn them into seeds so I can still have enough to repeat the cycle, but after that is when the magic really happens. The best part about all of this is that you're not even spending any money on these seeds.

Since it's quite frequent to start with only one seed ...

Personally, I won't plant that outside. I wait until I have a greenhouse. I don't typically dedicate the entire greenhouse to Ancient Seeds/Plants, but I do use it to build up a stock of seeds prior to even considering moving outside.

And then (as NBOX21 said) do it on the first of Spring. You want to maximize the amount of time and product you get out of any plants you place outside. You also want to be sure to recover a few fruit and use them as seed stock, rather than selling them (or turning them into Wine, (which is more likely (especially if you have the Artisanal perk))).

In this example: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2651093921

The entire left hand block will eventually become Ancient Plants. As you can see, I currently have two mature ones, and 3 just sprouting. I also have Starfruit (which I may or may not eventually replace with Ancient Fruit). I have Strawberries, which I will keep as long as I want to have Strawberry seed stock on Spring 1. Coffee ... just cause ... And Beets, just because I needed some and the space was free while I'm waiting for more Ancient Seeds.

And of course the entire thing will need to be repositioned when I have T3 sprinklers available.

And all that assumes I go back to that particular run, as I've said elsewhere, I get bored when all the early milestones have been reached and I have enough money to do whatever I want.
