Why can't I use the mod installed by my friends when I play the Story of Stardew Valley from my family sharing?
I want to know why I can't use my friend's installed game mod when I'm using family sharing to play Stardew Valley

family sharing is just that it shares the game, if you want to use a mod you'll have to install it yourself

You gotta install the mods as well. Steam doesn’t handle 3rd party content like mods.

With family sharing, you're actually installing the game on your computer (not streaming it), so it's running on your computer.

Mods change and interact with the game installation; it's something your friend did on his/her computer to make it work that way, installing a whole new program on top of this one.

If you want them on your computer, you have to modify the program on your computer.

It's the same reason you can't just play a game installed on their machine and you have to install it on yours, or if you save a file in notepad on your PC your friend can't access it without you sending it to them.
