Issue growing trees
Hi folks! I'm having an issue with a small project I'm trying to run on my farm, I'm trying to build something like a small forest in the southwest corner of the map, but I'm having issues getting the trees to grow. I planted them around early winter, and now I'm almost on the 20's but they still remain on the "seed stage". I tried looking up the wiki to see if it was an issue with the pathways I built, but supposedly they shouldn't affect growth. So I'm left wondering if I should remove the pathways to give the trees some room like with the fruit trees, or if my trees are just being particularly sleepy this winter.

Gonna try to attach an image to show the map, but I'm not used to steam's formatting so please let me know if it's broken:

if i remember correctly trees do not grow in winter

also trees only grow when the game randomly selects the tile they are in overnight so a tree can take a long time to grow

best way to get a tree to grow is to use tree fertilizer on it this will force the tree to grow every day instead of waiting for its tile to be randomly selected

Thank you for the reply!

Going to see if fertilizer helps as soon as I get more fiber. Thank you for the tip!

As Coffee Addict says, player-planted trees don't grow in winter. They also have a 20% chance to advance to the next stage of growth, with fully mature being stage 5. So you could get lucky and have a tree go from seed to mature in 5 days, or it could take multiple seasons if its luck was bad enough.

Cool looking setup, though.

So winter is the culprit! and totally not my awful planning then, har har!

Thank you, I guess that solves it then. Gives me more time to farm for fiber to fertilize on spring then.

And thank you! I have a massive issue of CAN'T STOP MOVING THINGS AROUND, but I'm having a lot of fun with it. Never been into creative modes, but I find myself wanting for one for this game. The time limit is just straight up murder for my plans :Owlcat_sad:

Mods can help with your time issue. I downloaded a timestop mod so I could spend as much time as I wanted decorating my home and farm without worrying about losing days or even weeks as I made everything just right.

It's my first time playing the game seriously (Sort of dabbed into it when it came out but it didn't grab me back then, was more into rune factory), so I'm going full vanilla. Also I have to play on compatibility mode since my Video Card passed on. That's actually how I ended up playing this, haha, since it runs on the integrated card.

Once I get my PC fully fixed I definitely might consider them for a second run!

I suggest you use the Bone Mill(the reward from Gunther's wanted board) to get Tree Fertilizers instead of using Fiber and Stone. Good luck on your farm.
