Panning Frustration

So, on this newest save I started, I'm now at the part where I'm trying to find the large animal tail for the field office, and Dear Lord, panning when you're forced to do it is frustrating.

I don't know why ALL of the water tiles are valid panning spots, even the ones that are 100% impossible to reach. I keep hearing splash sounds of a panning spot spawning somewhere, but 99% of the time, they spawn outside of the tiny two areas you can actually reach.

And it really sucks that this is the ONLY way to get a tail, too. And despite it being some 20% chance, I've managed to find a few panning spots that are actually reachable, and of course, no tail.

And despite me having an iridium pan that is supposedly supposed to respawn another panning location, I've not seen it happen yet after 10+ pannings (or they respawned somewhere out of bounds).

They really need to make it so that ONLY reachable areas can spawn panning locations especially if they are going to *require* panning to get the stupid field office done.

I'd like to actually be able to build the obelisk sometime this year, but no dragon teeth will spawn, and I'm stuck on this stupid field office as far as trying to get walnuts done and/or get the banana sapling.

You can use the Joja bird to the left of the Volcano to buy all remaining golden Walnuts, as for the extra panning spot, I have noticed that seems to trigger whenever I have a successful panning.

But I understand the frustration of the spots appearing in areas that can't be reached.

Also, the Lava Lurk (fire spitting monster in Volcano) can also drop dragon teeth when defeated

Yeah, I knew about the lava lurks, but it seems to be a fairly rare chance. I've made like 10-12 complete trips through the volcano and finally found the 10 teeth for the obelisk..

With the way RNG is going in this save, probably need to buy coconuts to get the skull.

Days with high luck have usually been successful days for me when I was Dragon Tooth hunting. I also believe this affects the spawn rate of Golden Coconuts on the trees on Ginger Island (having the special charm helps give a permanent luck boost as well)

Blue Discus Fishponds can generate Golden Coconuts when they reach lvl 9 (make sure to give it an animal cracker to help increase the yield

you can apparently upgrade your copper pan to iridium and wear it on your head.

and give it the generous enchantment? reaching seems to suggest you can charge it up for more range after upgrading it.

I do have it upgraded to Iridium, but I never thought about Forging it, not that I have any Prismatic Shards to use on that yet...

Oh hey lookie dat.

If you complain about crap on the internet, stuff changes. Booted game up today and went to GI and 3rd panning attempt gave me a tail AND a lucky ring lol

EDIT: *ANOTHER* lucky ring. Went to GI the day after, and there was a panning spot right next to the dock lol.

The skeletal tail artifact? I've found all mine from using the hoe in the caves while looking for cave carrots. I think I've used the pan three times in all my play throughs, I don't see a use for it.

I'm talking about the Large Animal Tail that is used for the Ginger Island Field Office, not the one you donate to Gunther that is a part of the Sloth Skeleton.

Panning is literally the ONLY way to get the Large Animal Tail.

Dude, you should get the iridium pan.

You get so much awesome crap from it now. It's not uncommon to get 6 or so Iridium ores +2-3 gems + some bone fragments + 1-2 other items (like the lucky rings).

That is, assuming you've upgraded your pan to iridium.

I get that when the game first came out, panning rarely gave you anything good, but once you upgrade the pan it's crazy good now. I always keep mine on me.

I've only upgraded it to gold, I'll try the iridium one now. Thanks, I didn't know it ever got better.
