how do i get hardwood?

Go to the Secret Woods and you should find more hardwood stumps that respawn daily.
If you keep coming back every day and chopping all the stumps there, you should get around 20-30 12 hardwood per day.

Additionally, if you choose the Forester Profession at Foraging Level 5, you can pick the Lumberjack Profession[stardewvalleywiki.com] at Foraging Level 10 so that all trees have a chance to drop hardwood.

You can also find some in barrels and crates in the mines and skull cavern. If you have a fish pond with at least 6 woodskips it'll produce hardwood periodically. Mystery boxes sometimes have hardwood inside and if you get extra copies of the Woody's secret book you can trade it for hardwood at the book seller.

The Forest Farm has two little groves on the west side with a total of 8 hardwood stumps that renew daily.

And there's room there to plant more trees. I plant maples and oak to have little tapping groves, but you could also fill them with mahogany.

The thing I don't like about mahogany is that you have to keep replanting it.

It's also a good idea to go there anytime you've time and energy because each stump *also* gives 25xp which is a lot for foraging, as cutting a normal tree is only 17 and picking up a piece of forage is 7.

Later on, when you fix Willy's Boat, there are respawning Mahogany Trees on the Island, and you can also plant Mahogany Seeds on your farm but just beware that they take a LONG time to grow even if you sprinkle tree fertilizer on them.

That's why you try to have at least 10 to 20 mahogany trees at all time which you poke every day to get new seeds. So you always have a way to replant more than you harvest.

OK. so yeah, the magical wood.

Mahongony seeds grow into trees that drop hardwood when cut down. Ginger island has them grow there especially in the dig site, Tree fertilizer could fix the grow times, which I normally get from bone mills and throwing bone based artifacts in there.

and the third option is to get to ginger island, unlock the Qi room with 100 golden walnuts and unlock the dangerous mines and then floor 40-80 are replaced with a variant that spawns stumps logs and mahogony trees.

Oh and a fourth option is to buy cork bobbers from willy and load them into a hopper and feed them thru decontructors. (Cork bobbers are the correct bobbers right?)

Once you unlock the sewers you can change your profession to forrester and lumberjack which allows a chance for hardwood to fall from normal trees.
