A one man team does get critisism from the community AFTER the release and starts sorting out many problems AFTER the release.
This sucks.
I know that when you hear that a game has been developed by one person only, it can scare people off because how good could a game be with only one person?
Trust me when I tell you from experience first hand, that if you have any interest in of this game, you will have hours upon hours of enjoyment. The game is without a doubt a masterpiece from the music to the artstyle. The way the game plays feels is just.... amazing.
I would say though that if you don't trust it, at least wait until the game is out, watch out for reviews/streams/videos and then see for yourself that this game is indeed worth all the hype, and that CA is indeed a very skilled and talented dev who you can trust!
Well you wouldn't need to worry about that, because a couple of us (me and Siri) have been beta testing the game for a while, and constantly giving him feedback on bugs and issues which CA has been getting sorted really quickly. We've been working around the clock to make sure that the game is _hopefully_ released with little to no bugs!
I'm sure there will some bugs left, as it's impossible to get to a launch state without any, and a small testing team can't possibly account for all the outside-the-box shenanigans some of you are planning to get in to. Nor can we account for every known PC configuration. But knowing how quickly CA has dealt with Bexy's and my bug reports, I can assure you any issues found will be handled in a timely manner as they arise.
And so far we've learned if he has no bugs to work on he ends up putting in new content rather than relaxing because he's a workaholic dedicated to this game. ;)
As far as we were told it was our attention to detail in bug reports and the fact that we were both long time followers of Stardew Valley and thus already familiar with the game/concept.
There are more beta testers now but Bexy and Siri were the only two testers at the beginning (mid December). They've done a fine job. =)
I mean, just watching a few videos you could reach two conclussions:
a) Is not made in RPG maker
b) Is made in RPG Maker and ConcernedApe is a God programming in it.
In both cases you should buy the game.
So, the question is irrelevant at the end.
And nothing wrong with one man made games. Just look at Touhou.
One man, impossible quantities of alcohol, pure win.
