Changing proficiency

Is there any way to edit my proficiency in game or by using save editing? I've tried following guides on how to edit saves but nothing appears to be working and 99% of the time the game refuses to even acknowledge the edited saves at all. I've also tried using online save editors but those don't work either., however I suspect that may be because they could be outdated.

If anyone can give any feedback that would be great, thanks.

What do you mean? Do you mean the bonuses you get from leveling skills? You can change that in the sewers by talking to the weird statue. Or do you mean cheating at leveling your skills entirely? Because yes, there are ways to edit saves, or mods, to change those.

Rather than editing the save, almost all changes like this have a debug command available by installing SMAPI. https://stardewcommunitywiki.com/Modding:Debug_commands#Skills_and_XP

Depends what you mean but there are in-game ways to reset these too.

Yeah, the fat dog looking statue on the left side of the sewer. Talk to him, he'll reset your choices for a price.
