Should I replace my chickens with dinosaurs?
Is there any reason not to? I got a dino egg and now the little fella is laying more, so I can incubate them.

Is there any reason to keep my chickens at this point?

Oh, and while im at it, is there any point to keep goats and cows after I finish the bundles or does it make more sense just to have nothing but pigs?
Money-wise - 7 golden mayo from 1 chicken in a week beats 1 dino mayo.
And even with a skill book that makes Artifact sells for 3x price - even iridium quality dino egg once a week sells for less than 7 gold quality mayo.
Dinos are cute - but can't compare for profits.

I don't know if you can cook with dinosaur mayonnaise, but if that isn't your concern, then feel free to get rid of the chickens. Dinosaurs don't lay as often as chickens, though.

As for the cows and goats, I would keep them for the cheese. Cheese is tasty and sells for a decent amount.

Depends on what is your goal.
I usually still keep one goat, 2 cows (one white and 1 brown) and even a sheep - just for fun.
But money-wise - pigs can't be beat. Either way - sold as is (especially iridium!) or turned into oil - truffles are a gold-mine!

afaik, dino mayo can't be used in cooking at all.
And cared-for chickens are still more profitable:
1 large egg daily = 7 large eggs in a week = 7 gold quality mayo = 399*7=2793 with Artisan.
dino lays 1 egg per week. 1 Dino mayo sells for 1120 (again, Artisan)
And with Apprisal Guide - egg itself (iridium quality!) sells for 700*3=2100

Cheese is good as food, but for money - pigs are still best.

The problem with dinosaurs is that they only give one egg every 7 days
The chickens give one every day

Thanks, I'll keep my chickens then :)

At some point your opportunity cost is more valuable than the eggs or mayo.

The dinosaur winds up being better because it takes up less of your time, which could be spent doing something more profitable.

precisely this.
same with pigs, another reason why they're good is because you dont HAVE to collect the truffles every single day. you can let them pile up

it takes a lot of time to collect all those eggs and milk and process them every single day.
animals in general are just not worth it at all after getting what you need for perfection (enough stuff for cooking+CC etc)

still might be fun to do an animal farm run one of these days. it just really hurts my efficiency brain. the cost for the coops/barns and cost of animals compared to what you get and the maintenance they require. yuck just a pure headache

there is a mod that makes the dino products 3 times more word the money. so then its just a little bit above the chicken. what makes more sense for me as they are more difficult to get.

What makes dinos great is that they only give one egg per week. So you can ignore them more, and spend time doing other things rather than making lots of mayo every day.

All daily type animals give more profit than less-frequent-harvest animals. The tradeoff for these higher value animals is less work. As your game progresses you'll find your days are way too full of tasks, and you'll need to save time somewhere. That's when you transition from daily chores to weekly ones wherever you can.

Chickens are worth more from what I recall.

A bit more labor intensive though, so ... something of a trade-off.

Or yeah ... what Snowy said (she was far more eloquent than I was).

There's no need for this mod anymore
There is a new special power book that makes every artifact worth 3x its value. Since a dino egg is an artifact, the price is way higher, specially the star quality ones. (you have to sell it raw, NO mayo processing)

EDIT:

Also, end-game spoilers, after achieving mastery in farming, you can get *golden animal crackers*, that DOUBLE the output produce of any animal (except pigs, because they're already overpowered) and that can make dinos even more profitable.

Sorry but it has been calculated and chickens are still more profitable:

People that scoff at chickens and cows being "more work" forget one two things - Auto-grabber and Auto-petter. After you get those you can pretty much ignore your animals as long as they have grass and / or hay to eat.
Autopetter makes sure that they don't lose friendship and keep producing big and deluxe products. Autograbber collects everything for you. So you only need to process those eggs and / or milk - not that time-consuming.
Besides, money-wise Ancient and Star fruits beat animals any day, so no point in getting more than one coup and one barn unless you are doing a challenge. And if you are doing a challenge - then your rules will be whatever you set them.
Want to set dino-only farm and get to perfection? Sure, it's your game after all!
