I think they finally patched out the recountnuts command to get the infinite qi gems and all the free upgrades, unless someone can still pull it off in 1.6.

if your gonna use an exploit to get infinite gems might as well just straight up cheat, you can use CJB cheat mods to add coconuts/qi gems

I think the streamer you were watching was using a now outdated version, and that the bug has been fixed in the most recent update.

It still works! But if you used the golden parrot on the island to get nuts, it doesn't work, I tested it on two saves and in the one I didn't use the golden parrot it still works
