Better weapons?

I completed the mine and unlocked the bus and im now in Fall of Year 1. This is the farthest I have ever progressed in the game, but now I am stuck as my current sword (obsidian edge I got from a chest in the mine) is not good enough in the Skull Caverns. The problem is that I don't deal enough damage so I often spend way too long fighting off enemies and cannot progress. Any tips as to where or how I might obtain stronger weapons? Or if anyone has tips on how to make combat in the Skull Caverns less of a headache?

If you have a prismatic shard, take it to the desert and get the Galaxy Sword.

if you don't have a prismatic shard, keep farming the mines until you get one.

As for combat in the Skull Caverns, bombs are your friend. I've heard good things about using explosive ammunition in the slingshot, but I was never a good shot with that thing. By the time I made it to the Skull Cavern I already had the Galaxy Sword, and that was good enough for me.

Dang, finding out about this secret myself was such a great experience for me - I wish people had just recommended the sword from Marlon and let u find the shard one yourself :/

And to be honest, I would try farming the Skull Caverns while you wait for the shard. At least for me, the goal at your point in the game isn't to progress quickly in the mine, it's to hunt down the purple slimes for iridium (and get other good drops in the process... like the prismatic shard).

Just make sure to bring plenty of healing items, and I usually do this while I have the Obsidian Edge as well, but it's obviously much easier with a better weapon for sure!
