'Say hi to everyone' quest needs a tracker
The Help Wanted quest to say hi to everyone in town really needs an indicator to track who's been properly greeted. I had to split it over a couple RL days, and could not remember who the last holdouts were.
If I had a modding friend, I'd ask them as a favor to make a 'give everyone in town a carnation' mod, so you could see who was wearing one. That'd be enough.
I hadn't played SV in a while, loving the update for giving me a reason to revisit!

In the Social tab, they "unlock" to show who you saw already. The one's in a dark shadow are the one's you didn't greet yet
No, not the introduction to the entire town, I mean the 'help wanted' quest from Emily. There's no built-in way to monitor that one.
Plan out your "residence" to deal and go with it.

Like I would likely finish Cindersap and Beach, Mountain residences before moving to the main town.

Rightmost column in that same tab. If you talked to someone today - it'll be checked for that person.
I'm familiar with that, but I had to do it over the course of two game days, so that was reset.

I am on same boat with this.

Some tracking would be handy.

That work only to some degree as NPCs are moving all around (including their visit to Ginger island or being locked in personal rooms if you dont have access yet)
I had the same problem. I think if I get it again. I'll check who was talked to that day and write it down so I can skip people the next day and know where to go.
I did this quest two times and I could somewhat remember the places I went and the people I had talked to

I found Shane, Sebastian, Pam, Harvey, Elliot and Leah the hardest ones to get

You could try gifting the NPCs when you talk to them to make use of the friends UI, or writing it down somewhere to make it even easier (and cheaper hehe)
I use a bit of paper and a pen - not elegant but it works.

So the point of tracking is:

Did you finish this family? It's easier when you realize "oh, I finish this residence so tomorrow I will exclude them from the quest.

You are right though, early request is brutal for anyone looking for Sebas + Haley + Sam or any NPCs when rain is common occurrence.
another reason not to do that quest I guess :P
