first time i saw this message in the bottom left like an event this a new thing?

Yes. Since yesterday. Fish frenzies.

does that mean they have an increased chance of catch/bite rate?

cool thought it was a mini event that wasn't on the calendar was a bit confused and nothing on the wiki

I think so. That's my best guess. I went to 2 frenzies so far. The first it did seem like I got a lot of that type of fish. The second not so much but it was also a lower luck day so that may have effected it. Probably best early game when you really need certain fish.

As far as I can tell - to get this type of fish you have to fish in the spot with extra "frenzy" bubbles. There's fishies jump out of the water too! Then it's jsut this one type of fish until it's over.

Oh so you're looking for a specific spot in the area? Both of mine were at the beach and I didn't notice anything like that but I might have just missed.

Edit: Guess I did miss them somehow as I had one in the forest and it was obvious, like you described, when I found it.
