Bigger backpack, satchels, chests anywhere
Really, just pick one. I use chests anywhere, except in the mines
36 slots is sufficient but just carrying all tools + 2 food slots + scepter + horse whistle + bombs and it is not sufficicent for skull cavern or fishing. (need to sell lot of stuff all the time or jsut ignore -to be fair it is not so bi deal with irridium trash but still)
I agree but part of the challenge of inventory management in games is earning more space. One more row at an end game price would be nice. The max carry is much less than other games. And as you said at end game there's no challenge to the constricted space, you're just throwing things out for partial profit instead, money you don't even need any more. Heck it could be some obscenely expensive magical quest, that would increase your "strength" to carry more, instead of an easy bag buy.
It would be a nice end game QOL feature that wouldn't effect game play at that point.
I do toss a bunch of stuff for partial profit or use a mini bin but it would be more pleasant to carry a bit more.
but why did this part of the game become significantly harder in 1.6 when almost all other changes in 1.6 make things easier?
That's not my priority n.1 through, I can easily live without that.
The trash can is a trap. You're never going to trash enough items to recover the cost to upgrade it.
You only need a weapon, some food (I usually go with spicy eel), coffee (or maybe even not if you have Java ring), and bombs. Alternatively - master slingshot with explosive ammo in place of weapon and bombs. When you pass out - you only lose some money. Yes, it's more now than just previous 1K, but when you are getting several times more from loot it is still not that painful. And if you don't ahve that much money on you - it's not even a problem at all.
Or alternatively - scepter or totem at the chest at the entrance, and it takes just a little time to get back out - swap stuff between inventory and chest - teleport.
As for fishing - about the same answer - CHESTS!!! Chests everywhere you fish!
Also - I go for trashcan upgrade only when I ahve an established operation and spare money. But usually Cavern's runs aren't started before that anyway, and before that - get out every 5 floors in normal mines + chests everywhere!
And you can get all the bags for free eventually just from drops while mining .
I didn't realize it at first, but pressing B opens the chests, so literally "anywhere" :D i wished i realized that a couple playthroughs ago. Just discovered it by accident!
I prioritize ore and gems when mining.
