inventory is just too small, for a run now.
im just sayin i always have to leave so much stuff lying around and it feels wrong.
dangerous mines and dangerous skull caverns drops so much loot, including the ores, i cant carry that all. and i dont like it, why dont we have double the slots in inventory somehow? that would be some nice quality of life improvement. make it some endgame bag.

There are various mods for that.
Bigger backpack, satchels, chests anywhere
Really, just pick one. I use chests anywhere, except in the mines

Agree, 48 slot bag as Bigger backpack mod does (50k gold price) is optimal for end game.

36 slots is sufficient but just carrying all tools + 2 food slots + scepter + horse whistle + bombs and it is not sufficicent for skull cavern or fishing. (need to sell lot of stuff all the time or jsut ignore -to be fair it is not so bi deal with irridium trash but still)

Part of the challenge of SDV is inventory management. I keep my inventory clean at all times and leave stuff I don't need at home. And if you're doing endgame runs - do you really need those 10 stones, 5 copper or 3 sap that drop? I feel like I even don't need iridium anymore or any gems to sell since that is pcoket change at some point. You can also put your mini shipping bin on floor 0 and sell off some stuff or at least dump it in a chest.

I agree but part of the challenge of inventory management in games is earning more space. One more row at an end game price would be nice. The max carry is much less than other games. And as you said at end game there's no challenge to the constricted space, you're just throwing things out for partial profit instead, money you don't even need any more. Heck it could be some obscenely expensive magical quest, that would increase your "strength" to carry more, instead of an easy bag buy.

It would be a nice end game QOL feature that wouldn't effect game play at that point.

I do toss a bunch of stuff for partial profit or use a mini bin but it would be more pleasant to carry a bit more.

That's the incentive to buy the backpacks. No backpack is rough. 1 backpack will get full if you hit the mines but nowhere else. But, 2 backpacks is genuinely difficult to fill even in skull caverns runs. And for those times... dump the Sap that's dropping into your trash can for tiny amounts of free money instead of just throwing it on the ground.

but why did this part of the game become significantly harder in 1.6 when almost all other changes in 1.6 make things easier?

After extensively playing the game and nearly reaching perfection twice in 1.6 so far, I have to agree that a 4th row in the engame would be extremely appreciated.

That's not my priority n.1 through, I can easily live without that.

i dont know how far you are into the game, but its annoying to swap stuff constantly to throw it into the trash.

But with iridium trash can you get a decent chunk of the value when you do trash something.

The trash can is a trap. You're never going to trash enough items to recover the cost to upgrade it.

Partially solved with a chest at the entrance of the Skull Caverns - even more easily when you have Junimo chests. Or - by just leaving all unnecessary stuff at home.
You only need a weapon, some food (I usually go with spicy eel), coffee (or maybe even not if you have Java ring), and bombs. Alternatively - master slingshot with explosive ammo in place of weapon and bombs. When you pass out - you only lose some money. Yes, it's more now than just previous 1K, but when you are getting several times more from loot it is still not that painful. And if you don't ahve that much money on you - it's not even a problem at all.
Or alternatively - scepter or totem at the chest at the entrance, and it takes just a little time to get back out - swap stuff between inventory and chest - teleport.
As for fishing - about the same answer - CHESTS!!! Chests everywhere you fish!

Well, depending on how many runs you do... And anyway - it's better to get something out of it than nothing at all.
Also - I go for trashcan upgrade only when I ahve an established operation and spare money. But usually Cavern's runs aren't started before that anyway, and before that - get out every 5 floors in normal mines + chests everywhere!
On top of all that - at the risk of repeating what others said already - hoarding is good (I also ahve a pack rat mentality even in RL), but at some point you jsut don't need any more of fossils, or rabbit feet, or dino eggs (after all - your animals on the farm are producing nicely), or copper / iron / gold ore (that you can get from regular mines on any given day if you still need some), or endless supply of cactus seeds (which are worthless, actually), or that stupid sap that I ahve several stacks already at home!

The different bags can be purchased in different shops, but they will also drop as loot in mines, which is where I collected all of mine,
And any extra bags you find can be sold using the Sell anything mod, for lots of extra cash.

something like that would be nice for the coregame, like a different bag for artifacts. etc.
actually the item bags mod DOES have a bag just for artifacts, and bags for mining, and 5 different bags for fishing, bags for tree items, bag for cooked food, just to name a few.
And you can get all the bags for free eventually just from drops while mining .

Why except the mines?

I didn't realize it at first, but pressing B opens the chests, so literally "anywhere" :D i wished i realized that a couple playthroughs ago. Just discovered it by accident!

I mean, you don't need to pick up EVERYTHING. There isn't a lot that drops in the mines towards the end that is worth bringing home. Do you really need to bring back 5 pieces of wood and 2 pieces of sap?

I prioritize ore and gems when mining.

Inventory size is part of what makes it a game rather than just a simulator.
