Need more bone fragments
With the introduction of new/reworked recipes in 1.6, there really aren't enough bone fragments in the game. I think you should allow something to create bone fragments. Have the geode crusher make bone fragments out of fossils. Or maybe have the windmill make them out of fossils.

Mines and nodes att Ginger Island is more than enough? What are you using it for?

Deluxe Speed Gro and Hyper Speed Gro both need bone fragments to make.

Challenge bait also needs a lot of bone fragments
bone mine on ginger island is the best source in the game currently.

I'd just buy speed grow from sandy on thursdays.

Well, you can use the Fossils to make Fertilizer. The Fertilizer Maker normally takes 5 Bone Fragments to make something but you can substitute any 1 Fossil instead to start the process too. Granted, what you get out of it IS random but if you have a LOT of Fossils kicking around, you can more than make up for the RNG factor of things.

So save those Fossils instead of selling them outright. And if you're ever doing Skull Cavern runs and hit a Dinosaur floor? Those enemies drop a TON of Fossils so it's a good way to stock up.

Level 70- 79 in the mines gives you skeletons to kill for bonefragments, just as you kill dust sprites for coal.

Yeah, riverbanks in the Ginger Island inland, way better than killing skeletons. At the point that you need bone fragments I'd just go buy whatever you need them for (if possible) though.

It is at least possible to farm bone fragments (via skeletons, esp with burglar ring), unlike Coral (which was only a forage spawn), which bone fragments replaced in recipes. So its actually more possible to farm deluxe speed gro in 1.6 than in 1.5.

Ok, it seems people here are under the impression that no one knows about Ginger Island or skeletons. Stop. This is not about where to farm bone fragments, everyone knows about these things, you aren't revealing the best kept secret in Stardew Valley. I don't know why you all think you are the only ones who know about this.

The point of the post is that as of 1.6, this items now require bone fragments:
1. Bone Mill: 10 Bone Fragments per 1
2. Ostrich Incubator: 50 Bone Fragments per 1
3. Skull Brazier: 10 Bone Fragments per 1
4. Thorns Ring: 50 Bone Fragments per 1
5. Dark Sign: 5 Bone Fragments per 1
6. Deluxe Speed-Gro: 3 Bone Fragments per 5
7. Hyper Speed-Gro: 3 Bone Fragments per 1
8. Challenge Bait: 5 Bone Fragments per 5

Look at the Hyper Speed-Gro. If you wanted to fertilize your farm you would need 3000 bone fragments. The challenge bait requires a one to one.

You cannot add/change recipes into the game without giving people more options to get the materials. This happened previously when fiber was added to different recipes (Tree Fertilizer, Deluxe Scarecrow, etc). Suddenly people could not find enough fiber. Thus fiber seeds were added to the game so people could have an adequate supply.

What I am saying here is that there is no longer an adequate supply of bone fragments, especially for challenge bait and hyper speed-gro. Either there needs to be better/more ways to farm bone fragments or we should be able to use a machine to break down fossils into bone fragments to help ease the supply as so many things now require them.

Why on earth would you even craft that much fertilizer? Is that some extreme min/max thing you are going for?
Then maybe your playstyle just reached its limit. That's not really a balancing issue then.
My dog has dropped bone fragments at my feet a couple times and I'm still in year one. (Kind of freaked me out the first time since I was looking for and couldn't find the chicken I had bought the previous day and suddenly my dog drops bone fragments at my feet. I thought he had killed my chicken for a minute there!)

Hmmm... That is so true. Why would anyone in a FARMING game want to craft a lot of fertilizer. I'm thinking.... My god, I can't think of a single reason why someone in a FARMING game would want to produce a lot of fertilizer. Gosh that was a riddle of the Sphinx there. Thank you super smart person for pointing out that fertilizer is completely useless in a FARMING game and no one should want to produce or use any of it. Ah, that clears up this thread. Problem solved. So glad 200 IQ people feel the need to chime in and fix these problems.

I mean... it is kinda useless.

the endgame is a field of ancientfruit or starfruit with irridium sprinklers and kegs... so quality doesn't matter making the quality fertiliser useless, watering doesn't matter making retaining fertiliser useless, and speedfgrow only matters for starfruit which is why the pros choose ancientfruit.
