Geode Crusher - bug or feature?

On a new game created to play 1.6 through, I've acquired the Geode Crusher from the Cave Patrol, and it cracks geodes, but not mystery boxes? Is this a bug? Is there a different device I need for mystery boxes, or is it supposed to crush mystery boxes like Clint does with the Process Geodes?

afaik boxes and golden coconut can be cracked only by Clint, crusher work only for geodes

ya you take all the mystery boxes to Clint , and any thing else that needs to be opened.
But you get so many geodes, you can have a row of crushers working all the time for you to save you money.

later in the game you can get an anvil, but I have not tried to use it yet on the boxes or anything else.

Its just for Geodes hence the name. I also hoped it would do all but it doesn't sadly.

is not anvil just for trinkets?

Yes the anvil is only for trinkets
