Hello, my mother is a massive stardew fan, as I wanted to buy a new OLED steam deck I gave her my LCD unit, she has been playing on my account but I’m wondering once my new SD arrives is it possible I can transfer the game save from my account onto a new steam deck account for mum with her own copy of SDV ? How would I do this ?

in theory, all you need to do is copy the saves from a device and paste into the other
afaik, steam deck uses linux, so according to the stardew predictor/checkup site:

Default save file locations are:

Windows: %AppData%\StardewValley\Saves\
Mac OSX & Linux: ~/.config/StardewValley/Saves/
Proton Steam (Ubuntu): ~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/413150/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/StardewValley/Saves/

if that doesn't work, create a save send the farmer to bed to save, quit to desktop and check the folder again. I once pasted the save in the wrong folder (stardewvalley instead of saves) and the game failed to locate it.
you can also try using steam cloud to synch/transfer the saves.
