Twisted trees in Stardew
Am I missing something in the 1.6 update? I have a grove of 16 trees of each tree seed with the intention to put tappers on them all. But while I wait I have them there. Randomly I'll have a few of the become what I'm calling "twisty trees," because I can't find any information on them. I don't know how to prevent them from turning from regular trees to this new form. Has anyone figured out what this is, and how to prevent it?

No way to prevent it. It is new with the 1.6 update. Some trees will lose their leaves in the fall and you won't be able to use a tapper on them. It is a random occurance.

Yeah, if you don't want that to happen just tap the tree early and it won't ever change.

You meant tree without leaves?

If you see that, chance you already encountered Summer Y1 event Green Rain

Here is the details about those twisty trees.
They are any untapped Birch, Oak, or Pines tree that turned into "Mossy" trees. The twisty tree will remain that way throughout the year until Spring when the trees turn back into their old form.

Mossy tree has 5% to get Mossy Seed when get shaken or chopped down. With Mossy Seed you can grow two variants of Mossy Tree and Fiddle head Fern tree that stays in that form throughout every year

Basically no harm beside it's only yield sap when tapped if I not mistaken. Otherwise, chop or leave it be is your choice.
