unfortunately yes you need max friendship with your cat, it could also help to wall off your crop area so the cat wont be there

In year two you can adopt a pet if you don't have one or if you have max hearts with your current one(s)

Before you can get additional (new) pets from Marnie, you need to reach max friendship with your current cat, yes. But at least there is a solution to get rid of it...

Also, if you plan on having more than one dog later on, you also have to set up a new bowl for it through Robin. Then you buy a pet license from Marnie.

may be CA has a dog that constantly lays across the front door of his house and makes people step over it all the time, that's what dogs do. they stay really close to those they love and guard the door to the house.

Believe me, the dog is more annoying than the cat, it stands in your way and also barks all the time.

Dog does it too.. but I blocked his paths from bowl with chests and forges nearby so he is usually stuck in his small area never reaching tilled ground area

And why dont you build a fence and block entrance with a decoration where bowl stands? it usually works.
