bee hive makes no sense at farming 3.
why do you unlock the bee hive at farming 3 when it requires maple syrup which requires a tapper which requires foraging 4 and then an additional 9 days to produce the syrup?!

I got farming on spring 10th... and it's going to take at least twice that long to be able to build a bee hive assuming I somehow instantly gain 2 foraging levels >.<

My foraging level is always ahead of farming, so I usually unlock tappers a little bit before or right around the same time bee boxes are unlocked. It's still a long wait, at that point, you're right, before you have maple syrup, but I imagine it's perhaps useful in encouraging players to craft tappers as soon as possible.

But yeah, others have mentioned over the years that you unlock bee boxes a little ahead of when you're typically going to be able to craft them.

I guess I tend to ignore foraging a bit :P

Most people forage a lot early on for easy energy before you get crops. Plus you need a lot of wood for things, which is also foraging. So it usually goes up quicker at first.

idk how they have the energy to chop trees on mass in the early game, I generally use my extra energy after planting crops to go fishing for extra cash. I forage a bit on the way for energy boosts, but it doesn't usually get me much for levels.

is everyone spending time clearing their whole farm at the beginning of the game or something? I generally don't touch the fringes of it much either until I need the space. gotta get going with the mines on the 5th for the copper and iron anyways!

I did in my first game. Cleaning up the farm just seems like a thing you should do. Of course once you know the game then that's not the most efficient thing to do with your energy early on but it just feels like you should. On the plus side during tree chopping you get seeds for snacks. You can potentially get more by first shaking and then chopping. Then after clearing the farm, ran around for foragables because I neglected befriending anyone. I switched to mostly fishing once I saw how much money it made.

field snacks and forageables. You'd be surprised how many you can gather quickly.

but if you use your seeds for field snacks you can't plant more trees for future wood.

What really doesn't make sense is Iridium grade sprinklers recipe being unlocked year before I have a chance to actually grind for it.
Still, all those syrups, rare metal bars and whatnots are what Traveling Merchant is for!

Just build the bee hive later... Who cares?

Trees off the farm will regrow long as you cut the stump too. You will always have trees. There are also seeds already in the ground when you start so those regrow if you don't dig them.

But I'm pretty sure season change can bring trees back as stage 1(planted seed, or stage 2. I've never been able to completely clear and have it stay that way.

im right there with ya king... farming always levels up way faster than foraging. Even on playthroughs where I focus foraging. I rarely ever bother with beehives though, but maybe thats because tree tapping takes so long.

I guess the path from point A to point B is always a star when youre in the Valley

you kind of need foraging 6 by summer for them lightning rods or lightning during rain take out some of your crops. i forage the whole map on Saturday or Friday if a event blocks part of the map. cut down the trees outside your farm i think Leah or Robin replants them just about right away

You can buy a lightning rod for 10,000 (Vault bundle).
