Grass starter under fence trick not working for me

Title. Unless I'm somehow doing it wrong, the grass starter I put underneath the fences near my barns and coops aren't growing any grass like how it used to before the update. Was this changed and if so are there better ways of making the grass self sustaining? Thanks in advance

Grass starter or Blue Grass Starter. Cause this didn't seem to be the case for me with regular grass starter, but the Blue grass definitely doesn't have the seasonal growth spurt.

Using regular grass starters. Nowhere near being able to get the blue grass starter lol

Experienced the same: grass patches under fences do not seem to spread anymore.
Ones placed under lightning rods do just as they used to tho.
Havent tested blue grass yet even tho i did unlock the crafting recipe, not sure if its worth the hassle when all my animals are already at full hearts.

Might have to invest in lightning rods then. Thanks for the info!

I have the same issue, except my grass starters aren't even under anything. I put them down in game a year ago and they haven't spread at all like they normally would. Very confusing.

I recently tried using the lightning rod method explained above and still nothing happened even after a year. Maybe I'm doing it wrong or it got patched out but I'm rich enough to buy a full stock of hay every season so it doesn't affect me too much plus all of my animals love me

Not sure what to tell you, grass spreads just fine on my farm. Seasonal growth happens normally too, for both grass types.

... don't tell me you're planting grass on untillable terrain and expecting it to spread? Grass only spreads on tillable ground.

I just assumed my animals were eating w.e few pieces of grass might have multiplied out of them
