1) Use Deluxe Bait, it increases your fishing bar slightly, while also helping you catch fish more often. You can craft worm bins that will generate it every day.
2) Increase your fishing skill. Fishing skill makes fish slower while also increasing fishing bar. Food gives you buffs to fishing skill, upgrading your rod in the forge to Master enchantment gives you +1 to skill too.
3) Use tackle. Cork bobber increases your fishing bar slightly, trap bobber decreases the speed that you progress bar decreases while fish is outside of the bar. Second one is significantly more powerful. If you have fishing mastery, you can use two tackles at the same time.
If you need a lot of specific fish, like sturgeons to fill your ponds, use bait maker and make specific bait to catch said fish more often. Not making it easier directly, but if you catch same fish more often, you get adjusted to it's patterns quicker.
