I know she's not there on tuesdays cuz she's over working out with the girls... but why is she not there on monday? why is she not there on thursday? why is she not there literally every time I go do buy a duck and then I don't have time to get up to robin to upgrade my house because I went to try to buy a duck for the 15th duckin time!!

just a little annoyed.

and the book is hardly useful, I have my animals by the time it's available not to mention ample extra time to check for marnie every day if need be

I've never had a problem catching Marnie to buy my animals. I just go there first thing in the morning on days she's open. lol

Ok, so Marnie's work schedule:
Monday - off (stocking up for a week at Pierre's)
Tuesday - off (workout with other girls at Caroline's, which happens to be at Pierre's too)
Wednesday - 9 to 4, normal work hours
Thursday - 9 to 4, unless it's Fall 18 (she visits clinic) or Winter 18 (takes Jas to clinic)
Fr, Sat, Sun - 9 to 4, normal work hours.

So, it's just 2 Thursdays in a year that you can't catch her working - not that hard to account for in player's planning.
And btw, all other characters have doctor visits too, but we overlook it since we don't need their services so much.
Her having 2 days off (M +T), as well as 2 doctor's visits, while other vendors have 1? Come on - she has a kid to take care of (well, kid and an alcoholic ♥♥♥♥♥, but Shane at least can do - and does - his own appointments and shopping). Give lady some slack for being good aunt / foster parent.
Don't forget about her working on M-T if it is raining too!
And if after all that player can't plan a bit ahead and incorporate that schedule into their day - well, sucks for them, imo.

Same with Clint - his only day off is Friday, and only after CC is restored.
I have more troubles with scheduling upgrades around festivals in a first year - I always forget that he goes to night market (and doctor!), or that Luau is happening, and I wouldn't be able to pick up my tools. But that's totally on me and not his fault.

And even when this happens - for gifting and quest's purposes they are still available on all non-festival days (and even some festivals too).
Robin is much harder - I had a quest from her while she was stuck building a barn, and I couldn't give her that wood she asked for... Thankfully on her BD she was jsut upgrading, so I could give her gift and talk. Otherwise it would've being a missed opportunity too.

For me bigger concern is - 1.6 screwed up some NPCs schedules completely.
Where the heck is Penny on Summer 28? Why half the time I can't find her anywhere? She's not jsut NOT where she suppose to be according to wiki - she's not anywhere at all to be found on some days!

On days that she actually work - none.
Either it was Monday (and she came back from Pierre and went to kitchen), or something is wrong with your game.
but - yes, she ditch the counter promptly at 4, and you can't buy anything even if you jsut a second late. Se la vie.
