Calico Desert Fair fishing

Is anyone else having issues with the fishing challenge? In years 2 and 3, I could complete the challenges easily. Now when I fish, all I get is trash. I fished for 7 hours and caught 20+ pieces of trash. I finally had to give up.

First, fishing in general affected by luck. Maybe it was a bad luck day?
Second, that pond is so small - you pretty much HAVE to fish close to the middle to get fish and not trash or algae.
Third - think about using targeted bait for those challenges (or any other challenges where you have to catch specific fish). That will make it much easier.
Also talking about Calico Desert Festival specifically - there's a guy that cooks food. While for cave diving fruit + hot sauce is best, for fishing you would want shrimp + syrup (+3 fishing and +1 luck).
And it stacks with your regular food too, so you can have even more luck or fishing buff.
And Chef cooks unlimited amount of food too, you aren't limited to just one dish per day - take what you need for current task and get another one when you go for a different challenge.
