I was there every single sunny day on time till day 23 of the summer and it never bite even once. Wasting my deluxe baits and cork bobbers.

Trout Derby
Each Rainbow Trout catch has a 33% chance to give the player a Golden Tag. This chance is multiplied by the number of Rainbow Trout caught, so it increases to 66% if 2 Rainbow Trout are caught at once and to 99% if 3 are caught at once. Only 1 Golden Tag can be caught per catch even if the player caught multiple Rainbow Trout at once.

Was there from 7am till energy deplete around 11pm. Out of 41 only 9 were Rainbow Trout and I didn't even get my golden tag till the 6th and the 8th. Only 2 tags from the entire day. Again, wasting my baits and cork bobbers. Most importantly wasted the whole day.

Ya, theoretically would've gotten a bite in this many days. But the fact remains, it did not. That is why this rant post exist. Are you saying I'm blind cant tell the time of the day and was fishing at 12 midnight till 4 in the morning despite the fact that I pasted the timing at the top? Are you saying I should record every day that I played so that I can proof it? Sure I could have used dressed spinner.

Then you tell me what is wrong other than the dressed spinner. Already pasted whatever info there. Tell me why you gotten 6 tags without any extra stuff while I have baits and cork bobbers only got 2.

Yup, my day 2 was better after going back to the farm throwing all 9 into the fish bait maker.

Forget about cork bobbers, very stupid tackle anyway. Dressed spinners and trappers for hard fish is all u need. Also trout bait in this case. Stop the frustration dude, ain't helpin nobody.

I didn't read all the replies so I'm not sure if this strategy was already covered. Use the challenge bait along with a cork bobber and curiosity lure with a master enchanted advanced iridium rod while under the effects of seafoam pudding with Qi seasoning. your fishing level if maxed will be 16 and along with the cork bobber your fishing bar should be covering half the meter. this will make it much easier to get a perfect catch netting 3 rainbow trout and the 99% chance for a tag multiple times. It is easy this way. This is also how I did squidfest successfully. I'd be sure to start by noon each day to have enough time. Good luck!

Sorry if someone's asked this already, but what level of fishing are you? Pufferfish are difficulty level 80, so you might not be high enough level yet (and/or may need a higher tier fishing rod) to even get one to bite.

Yeah the derby RNG can be brutal, and I say that as someone who had pretty high fishing level when I did it. I didn't get a SINGLE golden tag the entire first day despite catching like 11 trout, and I was fishing from like 1pm onward. One thing that helped me the second day was using the Bait Maker, but you don't get the recipe until you're fishing level 6, so if you aren't there yet this tip won't be helpful until next year's derby.

use a bait machine and catch a few before the rainbow trout / squid festival

you can buy pufferfish from the trading cart (eventually) or just reset the day until you get one in the timeframe

the pufferfish always gets me if I don't make an effort to get it though... mostly because I tend to fish in the afternoon/evening

The random number generator was just not on yourside for the pufferfish as sometime when i went for a last ditch attempt for a octopus at 12 i could hook 2 pufferfish before 1.

The rainbow trout 1 tho yea is definetly BS tried doing the event twice and hated it cause it is basically a double rng roll for a rainbow trout and than a golden tag and the rewards arent that good. Probably good to experience but not fun to repeat but the squid game tho is the best.

If they had make it like the squid game which is just catching it but maybe change to a dorado would be more tolerable i guess?

wow, I think the rainbow trout event is actually my fav part of the update.

so many useful things you can get at a great point in the game! I usually end up with like 2-3 hats and trout pictures just from the first year lol! kinda wish there was something to do with all the extras :S
