Is it good Co-op?
Wanting to find a new game with a friend, we've played Valheim, Terraria, Minecraft, Borderlands 1 and 2 together. Should I get this game and try it with 2 players? And do would we both need to own a game copy, or can a person join the game without owning it? I'm still not sure how co-op on Steam works :terraria: :gordon:

Yeah, Steam has a kind of janky subroutine for streaming games that normally can be multiplayed on one machine to a remote user, "remote play together" as mentioned above. The co-op is indeed good in this game because there's a lot of time management and collection crap that can be delegated and you can progress a lot more quickly, plus there are exclusive choices about character advancement you make that you synergize with the group (e.g. one person more adept with plants and one with animals).

I love watching old streams of Simsie and Duckdan playing their Co-Op. Unfortunately my hubby was not into this type of game. I would have loved to play a Co-op :-)

Co-op Stardew is prime time fun. Heavily recommend

It works very well. The only downside is that time in the game will never pause, so days will pass even faster than they already do when playing single player. But with multiple players you also get more work done in a day of course.

Can also recommend Factorio for coop play.

the only reason i enjoyed this game was bc of playing co-op tbh, takes the stress away and makes it so much fun

I love playing it co-op with my friend. We don't do as well as we do in our respective solo games as far as rapid advancement, but we have such fun sharing and commenting that we don't care. If we waste some time and duplicate some efforts that's ok. Being able to chat while we play makes it all worth while.

Co-op is kinda cool. Nothing changes really on the farm compared to singleplayer by having multiple farmhands (other than competing for the same spouse, or having multiple NPCs living on your farm and potentially giving you free stuff or doing stuff for you - 1.6 is going to allow 8 players, imagine taking 8 NPCs from the town and having them on your farm lol) so it's easier to progress through the game, since you can split jobs and you'll have more income coming in, generally. It can get to the point where you hit the "I've got nothing to do and all day to do it" part of the game very quickly though.

It's fun though. Clearly one of those games that you always ask for co-op to be added when it wouldn't really support it, but it would be nice anyway, if you know what I mean? It's cool that the dev actually went and added it in, even if the game has oddities and stuff because of it.

It's also neat that you can split funds so you're managing your own farms (especially neat with the Four Corners farm) or you're competing against each other too. Pitting a Farmer, Forager, Rancher and Fisher against each other in each corner is pretty fun, I had that going once (well, 3/4 lol) and it was cool for a while.

Anyway, it's a good game for co-op. Nothing you couldn't achieve or experience in singleplayer, but it's still plenty good for playing with friends and a fun experience. Work together or do your own thing, just beware of burning out too quickly. Or evil disconnects causing strange desync issues with non-hosts who end up moving at like 0.1 normal speed for some reason, lol. It's also interesting that one player can be using mods and the others not, so someone could be using CJB's Item Spawner and you'd never know, lol. At least that's how it worked last-last time I played.

But yeah, it's fun I can vouch for it, give it a try.

game is fun single player, if co-op is functional then its still fun.

I personally did not feel the need to co-op stardew valley, I only tried it once. before realizing i don't like other people, and they do not add to my enjoyment.

remote play I think that might have split screen.
If you buy on GOG then it is downloadable by everyone on one account?
It is fun single player. Coop if you work together is fun, especially if people find different things fun/boring. can work to playing strength, can marry other players instead of npcs. if you start with seprate money everyone starts with 500gold, you can then change it to shared (3 players means you start with 1500 gold then) Upgrading equipment if you upgrade one persons things they can be kept in chest and shared for everyone to use.
The game is worth the money if everyone buys their own copy. Coop the host has to be online playing for the coop world to be played in.
I do not recommending coop with strangers tho, Quite often people don't always share, or they make sure they upgrade everything first or spend all money if it is shared money. Not always but this has been my expirience. But coop you can get a lot more done, make money faster coz you get more done. build fences to seprate farm if you want so people can do what they want with their corner of paradise and decorate it as they want. I normally do that. But still work together.
Hope you enjoy it with your friends
