Either highlight it on your toolbar and right click/x on the other player, or go to inventory, click the item onto your cursor, click it out of the menu to drop it, and then desperately run away so you don't pick it up again

You can also put it in one of their chests and then in the chat say, "Hey, I put it in your chest".
