New Update Epilepsy Warning
I love star dew valley so much but I was nearly six months without a seizure when there was an unexpected random flash for a thunderstorm. The new update has flashes for thunderstorms and I had no idea, it was default turned on. This is a warning if you have epilepsy like me turn the setting off when you open the game immediately. I love star dew valley but I wish they would have had it default turned off or a warning about it

You always run the risk of flashing lights when you're staring at a screen, especially for video games. Just assume every game has flashes, you don't need a warning for it.

Also, thunderstorms have always had flashes, it's lightning. Real life has the same thing.
Obviously... OP was just warning people and I think they are saying that it got enabled when they previously had it off and they weren't expecting it. There's no need to be passive aggressive about it.

It tells you alot about the quality of a persons character if they program a game all by themselves, but they take great care in doing so, and even put in settings like this, because they are mindful of everybody playing their game.

Is ConcernedApe the best boy? I think he is.

It's hard to grow up in that era, see the Pokemon cartoon fiasco and never think about epileptics again.

I love star dew valley I just want to warn others. No hate to star dew just wanted to make a post warning others and maybe inspire a developer to add a warning about it and the setting to turn it off.

Concerned ape is the best boy? How is my post warning other people with a disability tarnishing a game that I love and a creator who made it. Maybe live a day in my shoes before you decide to be an a*s wipe on the internet for no reason.

^ This. I am going to have to agree with you on this one.

I don't see where Ben said anything trashing you. Their post wasn't even edited so I don't think I missed anything. His saying it's nice there is a setting to turn it off doesn't say anything negative about you. The quality of character comment was about CA not you and was positive. Did he PM you something nasty?

You could try contacting CA on twitter or the official website and suggest a warning and tell him your experience. His participating here is extremely rare. There is a setting to turn it off but most people probably never scroll down through the advanced settings. Maybe it could be on the character creation page instead. Maybe he would actually be open to something like that if people let him know it's an issue. No way to know if it's not done though. Your first hand experience could mean a lot.

The game has always had flashes for lightning strikes. The update may have reset the settings for you.

If you have a medical issue then it is on you to check the settings whenever you start a new game or newly updated game to make sure the settings are how you need them to avoid flashes.

Why make the majority of people jump through hoops to get a normal graphic setting for a effect, it should be those who need the setting to go through the motions to set it up how they need it not the other way around.
