Green Rain Theory
Something is afoot with this whole green rain event!

First time it happened in my game I found it fascinating, but then I started to wonder... I was thinking even though the green rain event is pretty much harmless for now(!), and only happens once a year during summer bummer... Maybe it's a warning?

I can see why it initially is seen as a blessing , but can you imagine what would happen if it was happening for a whole week, let alone a whole month or year...?! :brownchicken:

Looking at what is actually happening with the trees and such, I can't say it is a very beautifying process. The green rain gives the environment a very... Wild look. Which of course might be beautiful in some peoples eyes. But to me it feels like things are almost spinning out of control. It clearly also affects electronics, making them not work. I can see three potential sources behind the green rain:

The Witch:
It's green, just like her. So it might essentially be a spell. An evil spell! The plan is to overgrow the valley, so that people will suffocate only to then be mummified and enslaved by the witch. Making her the sole ruler of the valley. And perhaps later on, the entire world. The witch might be more ambitious than anyone ever thought.

Mr Qi:
We know he has access to some... High tech stuff. Among other things. Maybe this is some kind of experiment of his. An experiment that was perhaps created with good intentions, but that might someday spin out of control and destroy everything.

Yoba:
Personally I think the green rain is sent by Yoba - who might not be a very merciful deity for all we know. The message might be something like:

Stop messing with nature!

Or you will all end up being slowly and painfully transformed into trees and plants... That goes especially for everyone at Joja. Thing is though, anyone who is foolish enough to invoke the wrath of Yoba, will cause everyone around them to also suffer the consequenses. What do you think? Have you given this mysterious event some deeper thought? Would be interesting to hear what everyone else thinks. :staxelCow:

Sounds like you've been talking to Pam too much! ;)

lol, but Pam might be on to something. And of course nobody will listen to her, because she is essentially perceived as a walking bottle. Might reconsider if they one morning wake up covered in grass and twigs sticking out of their noses ^.^

Aint nothing wrong with that; I love Pam. In the evenings at the ol saloon I like to buy her a round.

To be completely honest, I thought that it's some easter egg crossover event with RimWorld.
Like, Mr Qi steps back from his gizmos for a day and lets Randy do Randy things...

Please no thanks. Had enough mechanoid clusters from good old Randy.

Just think, Gemini, that Randy will have a whole NEW slew of toys to mess with you come Anomaly.

I don't know how Randy treats you personally.
For me, he always starts with early Toxic Fallout.
So I genuinely panicked when I witnessed Green Rain for the first time AND listened to George's response to it AND noted that all communications with outside world are down.

I wonder what would gonna happen if I'll manage to repair the bus prior to Green Rain.
Will Pam chicken out - or will she become the hero we need (but not the hero we deserve) and evacuate people of Stardew Valley?

I think chances are high that she will just take the bus and leave. Shouting:
"To each their own y'all, I'm outta here! HEY, who stole my beer?!"

She'll probably do what she always does when it comes to that bus and wanting a day off, Drink: go to the beach and have us do her job for her AND pay her for it.

If anyone's gonna be the hero, it'd be Willy ferrying people to Ginger Island as fast as he can. Or us if we can convince the people of Pelican Town to touch any Desert or Ginger Island Totems we've built on our farm. "No, the rain ISN'T mossing over my brain, this will LITERALLY take you to the Desert!"

"Sure, farmer, sure. And next you'll say there's still dinosaurs still alive."

"There ARE. I can take you into my barn RIGHT NOW and show you like... FOUR of them."

"Oh no. I've seen enough horror movies to know where THAT is going to lead."

She'll take Penny with her because she actually cares.
She'll also give a lift to Gus. Because "Don't threaten the guy who pours the drinks." (c) Vander
She'll probably pull Willy along due to their ages long rivalry on fishing ground (and since they might be siblings). One does not simply discard a rival that ancient and call it a victory.
She'll likely tag Mr and Mrs Mullner (and their grandson, by extent) out of sheer respect to the elders and neighbourly bonds.
Which, by extent, would mean that Haley is hopping in too because - reasons...
...in the end, whole village will end up packed in and riding towards the Land of Sand and Coffee.

I bet that they're accustomed to magic of sorts.
I mean, recall Halloween event. However good the Wizard is, he HAVE to resort to ASK people to not look at him building the maze. Amidst of village's main street.
Illusion is not the Wizard's strongest suit. Teleportation and PROBABLY land shaping is.
(I still believe that he need Linus's help to set the Maze up though - but it's soooooo far-fetched...)
He also possesses 3rd probable escape route - teleportation circle - and 2 (TWO) damn good reasons to allow villagers to use it...

(also, can anyone remind me how the hell Gunther operates the Museum? My Memory gives me a brain fart when I try to remember this)

And as we're just recounting probabilities and variants... 4th potential escape route is Joja logistics. They haul goods to and money from the village somehow...

Mad hippie duck here. Lots of spoilers for Year 1 exclusive dialogue + Year 2 content coming.

Green Rain event never happened in the South, at least more than 20 years in the Stardew town.
Noone "normal person" hasn't witnessed the rain for generations, and Summer year 1 is the first time the Green Rain phenomenon occurs.
This is supported by Geogre and Evelyn's reaction, given that those two just believe the end is near.

But, there are two people in town that are already aware of Green Rain phenomenon. Wizard and Linus. The Ferngill Republic also know the rain phenomenon, so seem like this phenomenon spreads to the South one day recently.

So my theory of Green Rain is because of the change in environment. The rain is green and moss grows everywhere that day. This prompt me to theorize that green = moss or plant-like substance.

Those green can possibly thrive by pollution in the air, so it can be:
+Joja expansion causes pollution on the air
+War against those from Gotoro Empire
The nature is trying to heal itself, truely.

That's actually quite good Birb! I applaud your findings and attention to detail. My mind is quite stubborn when it comes to traveling down the horror route, lol. :brownchicken:

This is actually plausible. And believeable. And probable.
Joja just finished some drilling in mountains, right before player arrival, which resulted in Mines inaccessibility, among other things.
As mountains in this particular spot are not as high (nor as steep) to have such consequences from just few explosions... what were they drilling and with which equipment?

Hey well, whoever is responsible really needs to "step it up". I just spent 999 fiber on a certain item and don't have any fiber left to replenish my fields (thank Yoba that Marnie sells hay). I could use a few more days worth of green rain right about now. :HappyMask:

What happens if Green Rain happens on a Tuesday or Thursday? Does Harvey still have his clinic visit? The only time I had one was on sunday.
