Chests move on their own

If I'm not mistaken, the chest I had placed in Cindersap Forest had moved about 10 spaces on its own.
The contents remained the same. Is this a common occurrence?

Wouldn't the chest be destroyed if a resident passed by?

Quality of life changes:

-NPCs now shove chests out of their way instead of destroying them.

You can rest easy, your chest is not a mimic/haunted.

they can now push them instead of destroy not sure if they can end up in water though
