Friends of Mineral Town original version had this and it was patched out in the remake for a reason players would often get locked out of their spouse unless they rushed that part of the game immediately or avoided areas that had the two NPC's heart events. It sucked to reset a day because you accidentally wandered into their event.
I think a rival marriage after getting married would be nice, and if it was just a random chance since some players use the divorce mechanic so there still needs to be options. Or if the NPCs had a very small chance every month to decide to get married / divorced and only 1 couple can roll it (or not roll either) every month, with Robin and Demetrius / Pierre and Caroline / George and Evelynn being an exception of course. It'd also be interesting to see Lewis and Marnie get a marriage event.
Making it so it only happens on year 3+ too could be an option without forcing too many players into a box.
