Where apart from the farm can you place kegs, crystalariums etc?

You can place them wherever it's safe from npc pathing:

This is from 1.5 so you will need to make sure it's fine for 1.6 still.

Pretty much where ever you want, but be aware that NPCs will kick them out of the way and move the around on you if you leave them in their path. And if you place them in spots that are used by the minifestivals, the will be destroyed.

However, as of 1.6, the contents, chests, or machines that were destroyed in this manner can now be found in the lost and found box in the mayor's house. I can attest that it works too. I had a chest and my bait maker where the squid booth appeared for squidfest. Kinda freaked out a bit, but then I got a notice a day or two later that the stuff was in the lost and found.

are you sure about the festivals/minifestivals? i heard they use their own special map each time.

Another great place to place these items is on the path going from north of your farm towards Robin's house. No NPCs will ever walk there, so you're free to place whatever you want there worry free.

Also consider using the tunnel west from the bus stop. I've used this area to give myself a whole bunch of cranberry crops to grow using garden pots.

Just curious what is the usage? I normally make jsut 2 large sheds (137 accessible slots per shed) for each and feel it is already bit too much - both for handle and profit. And on farm of any type cna palce probably at least twice of such amount together with other buildings.

Like how many literal thousands of kegs you need and what is the point - unlimited profit?

aside from the basement and sheds, why would you want to place them everywhere and make you farm map look cluttered. The fact is you can make as many sheds as you want and the large ones are WAY bigger on the inside then they take up on the outside.
Aside from that, there are mods that make the sheds HUGE, and ones to double the size of the basement too.
The casks can only be placed in the basement unless you have a mod installed that lets you put them anywhere, so if you are using one mod, I am sure you are using more.
Here's a trick I found very helpful to save time, if you are using automate. If you have lots of trees growing fruit to make wines, place a chest under each tree, then place a keg, a cask, and a preserve jar around each tree. The fruit will automatically go into the chest, then into to the keg and preserves jar, then into the cask to age, then back into the chest. Done. I used a green house mod that had a separate room for trees ,and I could plant one of each kind of tree and my wine making was fully automated around each tree, all I had to do was go in and harvest every few days .

No need to clutter up the map, instead beautify the world with trees and flowers.

Yeah, the tunnel is my go-to for "shed storage" every game. I usually fill it with crystalariums or kegs though.

inside of the mine above robin's house you can place chests or anything in the elevator/ladder room. chests are useful there to store minerals and stuff when you mine too much, but you could place crystalariums also

Considering that road is in actual use by Pam (or you if Pam's chilling on the beach that day) it makes me wonder what sort of insane wheel maneuvers she employs to get around all that stuff.

Aside from the house on Ginger Island (which is an excellent place to generate fairy rose honey, in my experience) there is the bus tunnel, the northern parts of the railroad, and the entrance to the mines. But as others have said, it might be simplest to simply buy more sheds, or use mods to make your buildings bigger.

it's the Sareth i found on google, ran through faceapp to make him old and give him a beard lol
