Finding artifact spots is harder now?

Have you been playing the 1.6 update? I played a few months and I got very deep into the endgame. I found every artifact. Now I am struggling a lot. There are so little amount of artifact spots. I can be days without finding one which is weird.

Do you think that the new seasonal seed points are replacing them in the rng? That would suck a lot. I know that I never was so long without finding some very basic artifacts. It could be bad luck but I have played many times and it would be a huge coincidence. But it could be.

What do you think?

I think there is less to. But on the other hand it gets way easier later when maxing the skills. Getting some serious op stuff then.

I have no hard numbers, but the game certainly feels like the drop chance on many things has been reduced,

dont seen much differnce, still got alot at the beach and on the dirt roads. havent reached winter in my fresh run, so i cant really tell for a full season (because winter is ever the artefact spot explosion) .
in the contrary artefact spots are now my main source of clay, because that now nearly never appear when i swing the hoe for tilling fields.

I feel like the artifact spots are less too. Most of the time I find a lot of spots for the new seasonal seeds instead. I'm in winter year 1 and have just finished the CC, but I've barely donated anything to the museum (maybe 30-35 items) and I'm still so far away from the sewer key. Good thing that I already completed the museum on my (still unfinished) perfection save.

I have hardly found any artifact spots at all since the update, and I've also seen a lot fewer forage items spawn in my game now. And there was a week or two where stuff only spawned the first day, and nothing at all for days and days. And spring is almost over and there hasn't been any rain in my game yet either. Hopefully just bad luck, cause I really want to get those fish that you only can catch when it's raining.

The thing about the rain may be bad luck. My first summer I had rain almost half of the month, it was ridiculous (very comfy though XD).

The second one (just an hour ago or something like that) I had almost no rain at all. The randomizing seems pretty crazy now, I think before the update rains were more regular.

...Or maybe it's just luck.

I am surprised by how many people noticed there are less artifact spots. The more I play, the more I feel it. I am REALLY struggling to get artifacts. Almost everything I have came from omnigeodes from the desert cave.

there are now 2 types of artifact spots, and the new type appear smaller and may be harder to see, but there are also more types of loot to find around like the boxes on the beach which have some good stuff in them.

Wow that's a lot of rain XD I still have a few days left of spring so hopefully I'll get a day of rain too before it's over :)

rain seems much more random now, got 3 days in a row in first summer (6 days total in that summer) , before 1.6 i got summers with practical no rain at all.

I have noticed they are a lot rarer. Most of my museum artifacts came from artifact troves. I really ran into issues while getting the skeleton for the professor on ginger island. I couldn't get the snake vertebrae, it took forever. I would maybe get one artifact spot on the farm a week, and it never showed up. I had to use a artifact totem to get the parts I needed to finish it.

I am on second year winter. Lots of artifact spots. I wait for the days with high luck like I used to do... and... Most of what I am finding are mixed seeds. Yeah. Mixed seeds. I don't even remember if they could be found in the past, before the 1.6 update. If it was possible, it was so rare. But now... I am finding coal, mud and mixed seeds. It's extremely rare for me to get an artifact. I find it freaking weird.

the new ones are bigger actually, and have a greenish color

Even with cheaty mods, like using the Deluxe Grabber to auto dig up every artifact out of every maps section = its very obvkously way less than before 1.6

It seems like maybe the prior frequency of artifact spots was further subdivided into these novel seed spots (carrots, summer squash etc.) and regular artifact spots

Maybe it just depends on luck. I have had the usual amount of dig spots, if not more. What I did notice, though, is that there are so many new things to do now, that I have had less time for raiding the mines, meaning less omni geodes to convert into artifact troves.
