Woody's secret and how loots work in Stardew
Hello,
So, i'm looking for Woody's Secret, the last book i need for the achievement.
I just waited for a very lucky day, ate lucky food, put lucky ring on and deforested the whole amazonian forest i had just planted in prevision of this moment.

And got nothing.

So now, i'm wondering, should i quit the game without saving, and relive the same day hoping i get the book this time?
Or what the trees will give is predeterminated, either at the begenning of the day, or when the tree grew.
In wich case i would have to wait for another day in game, or completely re-plant a whole forest.

If anyone know, i would be interested in the answer to this question.

I found a video on books which says it's not preset, so replaying the same day can work.

It also has its own calculation that ignores luck, so I guess you didn't need to bother with that.

Not sure how book loot is dropped.

I got it fairly easily - keep in mind the RNGJesus is really unfair on a bad day.

My guess is that trees are nodes that predetermined drop, I will willing to be criticized for my answer.

Why would you want to?
Tree Fertilizer is a thing - and it's dirt cheap to craft. You'll have your forest back in less than a week in its full glory.
If you're in early game, you'll need extra wood and hardwood anyway - which is easier to get through planting wherever you need it, not where RNG decided to spawn some.

After playing something like a year after meeting the bookselsler that book suddenly appeared one day in the bookseller's inventory. Keep playing, eventually RNG will make it available.

That book and the book of mysteries are really, really tough to get. With the book of mysteries someone wrote that the chance of getting it increases very slightly each time you open a mystery box or a golden mystery box without getting that item.

To save time.
Ressources aren't a problem, i'm far late game, just don't want to bother to spend a in game week to regrow everything when a simple "go back to menu" can do the work.

The wiki says the booksellers don't sell this one though.

Thank you !
I was going to test the possibilities but i don't need to anymore. I just restarted the day and has gone through the whole cutting down the forest again.
Just in case, i still used food luck, i'm not savy on items at this point of the game.

And my results were differents. I got Woody's secret around 21h, so a bit after my luck food expired. By cutting the same trees, on the same in game day.

So to anyone wondering, it seems growing a giant ass forest, cutting it down and reloading the day if you didn't get it is the best way to farm the darn book!

The wiki isn't updated fully. They only added the spawn rate information if you go woodchopping earlier today.

You'll also find some of the new items on where you try to follow a link and the wiki page in question hasn't yet been written. I got Woody's Secret from the bookseller on his eighth - tenth visit or something like that.

Try the prediction tool and roll through your savefile.

https://mouseypounds.github.io/stardew-predictor/

For my savefile the predictor mentions Woody's Secret on Monday Fall 22, Year 6 which sounds right since I'm currently on Winter, Year 6 and only just got that item

The bookseller will sell it. Just keep checking and trying to cut trees down in the mean time.
I am sure the trees are random drops, but maybe they are pre-determined. That's a deep question

I'm 99% this is locked behind a reaching sufficient skill. I believe it's level 7, or thereabouts, because it is analogous to jewel of the sea and the monster compendium. You will notice it, because once you pass that level you will see it every so often, but never before.

Got it before choosing lvl5 specialization, if it helps.
I have a funny feeling that Woody's drop chance is being checked per axe hit as I've got 2 (two) copies back to back from same tree somehow. Do note that I've read the first copy as soon as it dropped.
