Mushroom logs?
I played years ago and I want to start over. I'm thinking about choosing the forest farm. Do the new mushroom logs eliminate the need for the mushroom cave? I never did fruit bats in the cave. If mushroom logs produce enough mushrooms, I feel like the fruit bats in the cave will be more useful. I also read that you need moss from trees to make a mushroom log. Is the moss plentiful?

yes, and no. They generate mushrooms at about the same rate as the mushroom cave, however, the mushroom cave now comes with a new dehydrator machine AND these extra mushrooms can go in there too. Basically, they'll enhance the mushroom cave.

Moss isn't plentiful at the start of a new game but it will become later.

You can do either choice in the cave. Mushroom cave should still be better on average money per week, but honestly that money gets outstripped pretty easily by everything else you can do.

It feels more like a choice of how you want to get the greenhouse done. Do you like fruit trees or do you like mushroom logs or do you like both.

I've been trying out the fruit bats for the first time and it's nice not having to buy a couple trees just to complete the greenhouse so I can then plant them all in there. No consistency in getting apples until mid winter though.

I was thinking maybe the new mushrooms would be good for healing because I never beat the desert cave and I heard there is more late game stuff that I should be prepared for if I want to go deep and what not.

well there is no BEATING the desert cave since there is no bottom that I have found, and I went down 1700 levels, but as long as you get to level 100 you are considered successful.

As for moss, it will grow more on older trees on your farm, so dont chop them all down, And some time in mid summer you will get a day of green rain, and there will be strange trees and weeds every where, just clear the weeds and the moss trees all over the place then to collect lots of moss.
