Why can't I get sea jelly?

I can't seem to find any sea jelly. I've done a lot of fishing in the ocean, but turned up nothing (except for fish, of course). I've got river jelly and lake jelly, but no sea jelly. Any ideas why that might be?

It's just luck based. I got two in one fishing session today. Other days I've gone a whole day with none.

If you have a way to increase your luck that should help.

It took me a really long time, too. I'm not sure if there are modifiers involved or not, but I've had more luck both on Ginger Island (farm area beach) and on the right hand side of the town beach (across the bridge, at the end of the pier).

Good luck. Also boosting your luck helps, but daily luck apparently doesn't. So look for luck boosting foods.

It seems cave jelly is also missing from your list, I had the most luck with that on the lava lake in the mines. You mostly fish up trash anyway so that makes it quicker.

I had a decent lucky day and fished it up by the Lonely Stone, end of the farthest left pier on the beach.

I know the Cave Jellies are dependent upon extra luck (not daily luck), so maybe the other jellies are, too?

Try eating a luck-increasing food, or get the lucky charm.

RNGesus is fickle. They're actually pretty easy to get, you're just having a run of bad luck.

There's no lake jelly AFAIK. Both the mountain lake and the river give me river jelly.

As for the Cave Jelly, I took mine from lvl 20 floor on the mines, but it took quite some time. The chance is RNG and it seems it's low.

its easier to think of the lake / river jelly as a freshwater jelly, any freshwater location that isn't a cave should have it

I've had the same luck I'm guessing it is dependent on the tv fortune teller rating if others saying it is extra luck are right, I thought these replaced trash drops so lower luck would be better but it might just be a unique drop that requires high luck, who knows right now.

I have gotten all the jellies without even trying, but I dont know what they are for yet. I know they are used in some crafting recipes.

I found a sea jelly when I wasn't looking for one inside the pirate cove fishing for stingrays. Cave jelly I found at I think it was level 60 of the mines. River jelly I have yet to find and I've been trying for a while.

That's pretty crazy. I had like 20 river jellies to 2 sea jellies and 1 cave jelly.

indirectly yes. You get a lot more trash in the cave and higher luck lowers the chance at trash, so more actual fish = more jellies.
