Jellies
Is anyone else significantly struggling with finding any of the jellies? I'm deep into the game (trying to regain my perfection status) so fishing level is max'd, using all the fancy lures, bait, and luck foods. Cave jelly was fast, river jelly took a little bit of time, and sea jelly is just NOT HAPPENING. I've been fishing for multiple days in a row (like weeks of multiple seasons), trying different ocean spots, and catching all kinds of seaweed/joja colas/etc. but not a single sea jelly. Any thoughts?

I've got a bunch of the things, so I know they're there but don't have anything to help with why they're not turning up for you.

You want to limit the pool of fish that can be caught to effectively up the rates of getting jelly, so use the training rod and focus on luck buffs. For sea jelly, fish on the beach in summer or the western sea area on ginger island. There's a quirk with the randomizer in this case where you need to catch a fish after catching trash or the sea jellies never drop.
*edit to add randomizer note*

No, I believe you cannot catch jellies with a training rod, because it can only catch basic fish and jellies are outside its catch pool.

Sea jelly isn't any harder to catch than the other jellies. If you've been fishing for weeks and multiple seasons and aren't catching any at all, you've got a glitched game. It shouldn't take that much effort.

i get jellies all the time without even trying, I usually get at least one every day I spend fishing, regardless of the location. I have been using the challenge bait lately and while I get 3 of every fish I catch, I only get one jelly, but I always get at least one.

Sounds wrong, In my experience sea is the easisest one and very plentiful. Getting several every fishing session at sea, starting at spring 1st.

Any mods?

Did some testing of the strategy I posted earlier. It works just fine, but you need switch to a regular rod and catch a fish after catching any trash items. As a side note, it works really well for catching snake skulls and seaweed if you're specifically looking for those items.

can trade jewel of the sea i think its called for jelly at book seller but its random which one you can get each time he shows up

You are bound to catch at least a single jelly if you fish the whole day. If it isn't, you are just having a string of bad luck. There is only one suggestion: keep trying.

I am soon in year two on my new playthrough and got at least 20 ocean jelly, maybe 5 river jelly and not a single cave jelly on my way to 10 fishing.

I got the Smoker (requiring all 3 Jelly's) while I still had my training rod - it's not only possible, I got a ton of everything but the Cave Jelly's during that time (I only caught the few fish in the caves and moved on lol).

They do seem to have a low catch rate in general, but if you're already focused on catching something else (like a Lava Eel, Pufferfish, etc), they should naturally turn up.
