Why not simply ask the affected person/s how they feel about something, instead of assuming they need to be "rescued"? But... That's kind of a whole other debate.

And it's a bummer, too. If an accent was used with the clear intent to make a character sound stupid, or to belittle them, fair enough, that's probably something that warrants some backlash. But with things like this, because everything is just about sending signals to your peers for so many people, these discussions always gravitate towards the most extreme views on such topics, and thus "using accents is bad" which, ironically, reduces actual representation in media.
Intrusive wokes are pretty much everywhere. They make it their business, what is not the original recipient's business. They always need something to blot out, nag at others' expense and ultimately, have stuff removed, so as it becomes colorless, flavorless, more generic.
Despite this game actually pandering to them and their special needs too much already, they actually had to go out of their way, to demand even more. The more you give to them, the more they are inclined to keep taking away (at others' expense).
Saw a YouTube video not long ago that said "ConcernedApe has not added non-binary gender options, but I don't think we should resort to violence...yet."
