So. I need one final recipe for completion sake. what are the criteria for getting the resort bar open so I can buy it? or can I stick a fence post or something there and use that?

I've been checking for days and admittidly it decided to rain, so no dice. I bought a perfection waiver cuz i only needed 1% but is it just random for gus to decide to show up?

is there a way to trigger or cheese it? is there another way to get it?

Gus at the island random. If you don't want to keep running to the island to check if he's there, just check the saloon at 12 o'clock and see if the box is on the counter (indicating he's taking the day off).

as mentioned i got 99% so I got teleport totems to the island set up. but yeah, check the island at noon?

If Gus is not at the SALOON in Pelican Town, then he went to the Resort. Except on Festival Days, and Fall 4 (Clinic Visit)

so basically if I have key to the town, check the saloon at the start of the day, then rest if no box?

I believe box appears only when he exits the building to go to resort. At least that what i saw in Pierre store.

Close the resort, and in the next day that you re open he will go to the island. sorry my english.

There's no trick to it. The game randomly picks a few villagers each day it is open and when Gus is one of them, then he'll run the bar.

So it's pretty much just RNG and it looks like you're quite unlucky.

Best thing to do would've been to check it regularly, while doing other stuff for the 100 %, but if that's the last thing you need to do, then i would say the next best thing to do is to port to the beach, look out for who runs past you to the boat and if Gus isn't one of them, go to sleep. You can obviously also wait on the island, but that will take a littlebit longer
