Preferred TimeSpeed mod settings?
I've put a few hours into SDV on the normal timespeed, and every day felt like a hectic speedrun to get as many things done as possible before time ran out. I was actually doing "test runs" for each day to see where all the forageables were so I could then do a "for real" run of that day and grab them as efficiently as possible.

That's not really the experience I'm looking for in a "relaxing farming sim". I had to redo my mods anyway since this is the first time I've played since 1.6 dropped, so I downloaded the TimeSpeed mod which lets you adjust the flow of time in the game.

Default speed is 0.7, which means it takes 0.7 real life seconds for 1 minute to pass in game, or 7 seconds for every 10 minutes. I tried setting it up to 1.2, so it would take 12 seconds per 10 minutes, almost double the time, but it still felt like it was going by too fast.

I know part if it is just about developing a routine, but I was curious if anyone else uses this mod and what settings they use with it.

Any game - whatever the label and trailer and reviews say - will be relaxing ONLY if you aren't stressing yourself.
There's no NEED to collect every forageable, or catch every fish daily, or plant full farm of crops, or do mine runs every day.
This game has no hard time restrictions (aside from a couple of cutscenes).
Every season, every year, every action is repeatable. There's always next week or next year.
Finishing CC in year 1 - that's was originally a goal for speedrunners, and then everybody assumed that it's a norm.
If you want a "relaxing farming sim" - then relax, and do it at your own pace.
You can actually just spend a day decorating your house or your farm - and that's totally fine, nobody will be judging you for that (and if they do - that's their problem).

All that said - nothing wrong with wanting a different experience and using mods.
I like vanilla - and you want strawberry, and that's OK.
You do you. Go and enjoy the game any way you like.
Just - don't blame the game for not meeting your expectations if they are too high.

If you want you can simply pause the time with that mod so you don't feel rushed when doing something and then resume time normally when you wish.

Or just keep increasing it until it feels good for you,

I have this problem, and this is really silly, but I obsess about efficiency in a way that is not actually very efficient. I don't think in terms of how much real time is saved or wasted, but how much in game resources are saved or wasted. For example, if I use an item to speed up grinding, then the item is "wasted" because I could achieve the same result just by grinding for longer, nevermind that the time saved would allow me to simply buy another of that item and still come out ahead.

For Stardew Valley this means I do feel pressured to get all my farming chores done in a timely manner and run errands or socialize. Nevermind that there's no real penalty for putting things off for a day. Like, imagine being immortal but time flows at 10x speed so each day feels super short and you can't hardly get anything done before you have to go back to sleep.

I tried setting the time speed to a whopping 2.5 (so it takes 25 seconds for 10 minutes to pass), and had no problem having a productive first day. Cleared a small space to plant crops, cleared up some sticks and rocks, collected all the forage I could find, met 26 out of 28 villagers (I think the wizard and Sebastian are the only ones I missed, and IIRC the wizard can't be spoken to until a little later), cut down a bunch of trees, rebuilt the bridge on the beach, and still got in bed around 10 pm. I think I might need to actually start decreasing it.

Making time pass too slowly would also be an issue. There's only so many things to do, and if you get them all done in a single day then the only things left to do tomorrow will be the maintenance or daily tasks, such as watering your crops or collecting forage. I'll tinker with it and see if I can find a good balance.

I use it all the time, I slow time down outside so the day takes about 4-6 times longer to get thru, I also set it to STOP time when I am in buildings busy putting things away or processing in the shed.
I also like it to stop time when I am in the mines so I dont feel rushed.

If you try to do as much as possible on any given day, then of course the resulting experience will be hectic. If you want that relaxed experience, the expected way to handle it is to prioritize what to do on a given day instead of cramming everything in. There's no time limit in this game, so it's not necessary to do everything at once.

Don't get me wrong, if it helps you enjoy the game more, by all means, use a mod to extend the time of each day. But there seems to be a fundamental disconnect between the way you "want" to play this game and what you "think" this game should be like which I think you shouldn't just ignore.

Trying to be "less obsessive" with the normal time scale so the your approach matches the experience that you're looking for might actually be a better approach though, since this kind of disconnect probably isn't just present in this one activity, it's likely just where you notice it the most.

a good balance for SDV is 10 seconds for 10 minutes outside and 15 seconds for 10 minutes inside.

that gives you about 50% more time during the day which lets the increased map size of major mods like SDV, Ridgeside, and East Scarpe feel more like the base game.

If you're like me and you have mods like ridgeside and east scarpe, it gives you more to explore and therefore you need more time. I usually have it set to 20sec for 10 min for a relaxing stressfree experience (imo) and freeze time if indoors. Some might say that this is "too easy" but I have some disabilities and therefore mental stress effects me physically and so I need a little more leeway. Sorry to necro! :er_sweat:

My prefered way to play the game is the Multiplayer speed. Since there's no constant stopping while in menus, it feels faster than the standard singleplayer speed, which pretty much hits the right spot for me.

Anything slower (including singleplayer) feels like stuff doesn't really grow, so i would usually go to be earlier anyway to keep the time of a single day at like 15 minutes or faster

well I've got that mod for some time now but basically only use it to stop time at 23:00 to finish whatever I was doing and walk back home without rush or when I'm working with several machines to stop time while refilling everything... or speed up waiting times

nothing is more annoying to me than machines of the same type that aren't running in sync :steamsad:
I think i will add a mod it's relally stupid to make 2 "go and return" in a big house and lose 1 hour. I lost several days just by rearanging items between 2-3 close chests
I add, the game begin by having the time to live, far from the city but in end game you run against the time. I don't even talk about the skull cavern where you must rush like a mad man with full buffs.

The game lose his philosophy when you progress far.
a .. damn i forgot something. I saw my wife walking 30 minutes to reach the bed ???!!!! Seriously ?
1% on all indoor since I prefer the time pause indoor like SOS including all mines and volcano
50% outdoor
