Are there any portrait mods that still work?

I really wanted to use the DC Burger portraits but the PKtoolkit mod is still out of date. Are there any working portrait mods that work with the most current patch. I want something that is easy to install (I'm a Boomer) and while I know there's an 'unofficial' updated PKtoolkit, I am uneasy to use something from an unaffiliated site.

I and many other players have been using that update for a long time and there is nothing to fear about it. It is 100% safe, legit and the link I provided will take you to the official Stardew Valley forums which are also perfectly safe. Your choice, but that is the only choice you have at the time being if you want those portrait mods to work :>

That "unaffiliated site" is the official forums run by ConcernedApe and the thread is monitored by the creator of SMAPI. You can't get more secure than that.

On top of that the people who provide the unoffical compatibility versions are often other modders themselves, who have their own mod projects hosted somewhere on nexus.

These people aren't spreading malicious code. It goes against anything the modding community stands for. Even software pirates and crack provider have similar principles.
